maybe this will get your "Buffet-ass" up here, Glenn....

Reunited power/progressive metal legends LETHAL have just confirmed for CHICAGO POWERFEST 2007 as replacements for MYSTIC PROPHECY, who as recently reported was forced to cancel their Powerfest performance due to passport/visa issues. The 5th annual metal festival will take place on Friday, April 20th and Saturday, April 21st at The Pearl Room in Mokena, IL (located just outside Chicago).

This will be LETHAL's first US performance since reuniting after 10 years of silence, and the band will be featuring their "Your Favorite God/Poison Seed" lineup of Tom Mallicoat (vocals), Dave McElfresh (guitars), Eric Cook (guitars), Jerry Hartmann (drums), and Glen Cook (bass). The band will be co-headlining the Friday night of the fest with doom metal legends SOLITUDE AETURNUS, and will be focusing of material from their classic "Programmed" album, as well as the critically acclaimed "Your Favorite God" EP.

Current Powerfest lineup:

LETHAL
SOLITUDE AETURNUS
MARTYR
SATURNUS
NOVEMBERS DOOM
BENEDICTUM
SHATTER MESSIAH
THURISAZ
SUSPYRE

The final band to complete the lineup, which is also targeted to fill the headlining slot on the Saturday night of the fest, will be announced before week's end. Tickets for the fest are on sale now via all Ticketmaster outlets, and will also be made available at various Chicago area locations (The Colliseum, Threshold Music, Discount Records, Metal Haven & Impulse Music) within the next couple weeks on a "cash only" basis.

DAMNIT.

This sucks sooooo bad. Mystic Prophecy was the band that was bringing me back to Chicago. Damnit damnit damnit.

I hope the headliner really impresses, cuz right now, I'm on the fence...
I'm pretty bummed about that as well. If Powerfest wasn't sorta in my back yard it would be pretty debatable as to whether I would attend or not. I do know Lethal a bit, so I think I will enjoy their set.

Oh it'll be a band that I'm sure I'll enjoy, and maybe turn me into a fan.

But with my trip to Houston for that shitty little dive bar gig I gotta attend in July :heh: and then ProgPower, and then another possible long vacation this summer, I gotta make every vacation day and spare dollar worth it. I loved Powerfest last year, and don't want to miss it, but I really need that one band I "gotta" see, to commit to it this year.

At first, I wasn't too crazy about the lineup. Benedictum and Suspyre were the only bands I wanted to see, and I wasn't sure if it was worth going to the fest to see two bands. However, now that Lethal is on the bill, I'm there. I saw them at Powermad '99 as well, and they absolutely slayed! The icing on the cake is that all the bands I like are playing on the same night, so I only have to pay for a single day pass. It looks to be a fun night.

Stay metal. Never rust.
