GMD Poll: Top Ten Albums of 1984

4) King of the Dead by Cirith Ungol
Your fate hangs before you on a wheel of fire...

CIRITH-UNGOL-King-of-the-Dead-LP.jpg

"As the sole guitarist on the album, the late Jerry Fogle recorded multiple guitar parts and his distinctive axe work is a true highlight during the album's many extended guitar sequences. Flint's bass parts are massive and they play a key role in the progression of the songs rather than just being a rhythm element. Robert Garven plays with a hard-hitting style that provides a suitable framework for the musical tapestry created by the other instrumentalists. Perhaps the most recognizable element of Cirith Ungol's sound is Tim Baker, and his unique snarl is more venomous than it was on the band's debut album." - @Omni

My sweet Satan, you are the one!

Surprised at how well DBtO has done. I don't find it to be anywhere near the level of Melissa. And this is probably a stronger than 1983.

That Cirith Ungol album is at the top of 'Albums i'd kill someone to get an instrumental version of' or 'Albums with singers that I cant get used to, or even listen past to the glory thier bandmates are purveying'.

2) Powerslave by Iron Maiden
I’m a slave to the power of death...

"More than any other Maiden album up to that point (and probably past), Powerslave had a wonderful ethereal / unearthly progressiveness about it. It is easy to get lost in that album." - @alex76

RIDE THE LIGHTNING smashed SHOW NO MERCY's points record by 43, although it couldn't quite beat the largest winning margin, still held by TRAVELLER. DON'T BREAK THE OATH is in the top ten highest points totals so far and was still 80 behind metallica lol
