A SOUND OF THUNDER to Release 'Out Of The Darkness' March 27th on Nightmare Records

Less than a year after self-releasing the band's first album, "Metal Renaissance," A Sound of Thunder will now release a second full-length album, "Out of the Darkness," on March 27th, 2012. The 10 track album is being released through U.S. independent label Nightmare Records. The band's publicist issued the following press release:

"Relatively new faces in the metal world, A Sound of Thunder is fronted by powerful lead vocalist Nina Osegueda. Lead guitarist Josh Schwartz and drummer Chris Haren founded A Sound of Thunder in 2008. Nina joined in 2009, and was followed by bass and keyboard player, Jesse Keen, in 2010. In less than two years, A Sound of Thunder recorded and released an EP, a charity single benefiting the West Memphis Three, and a full length self-produced album. They have performed throughout the US, and opened for such high profile bands as Accept, Sabaton, Firewind, Primal Fear and Doro.

"Assembly Line Studio's multi-platinum award winning engineer and producer Kevin "131" Gutierrez (Shinedown, While Heaven Wept, Deceased) produced the album, providing a crisp, heavy, modern sound for the classic metal compositions. The 10 track album plays like a love letter to all that is metal, encompassing traditional heavy metal, modern power metal, prog and classic rock, with timeless songs that could have been written in 1971, 1991 or 2011.

"The songs for Out of the Darkness were written and arranged by Josh Schwartz and the rest of A Sound of Thunder, with lyrics written by Nina Osegueda and Chris Haren. Legendary Raven front-man John Gallagher also appears, performing a duet with Nina on the title track Out of the Darkness."

"John Gallagher was so awesome to work with," says Nina Osegueda of her experience with the legendary metal front man. "I learned a lot from him in the short time we were in the studio together, and I really respect his skills and experience which shine through on this track."

Good to know that Jaxx has changed their name. Don't know if that was the smartest decision by the new owner, but it is what it is. Won't be at the release party (Squonk Opera is playing in Frederick that night), but I might go to the Sabaton show.

I had to look up where Krug's Place was, and that's within walking distance from my parents place.

Oh herro!

Anyone want to hear the 1st song on the album? It's here, on NoiseCreep! :D

After getting tired of just playing other people's songs in a cover band, guitarist Josh Schwartz and drummer Chris Haren formed A Sound of Thunder. After over a year of numerous line-up changes and false starts, in late 2009 the band was joined by Nina Osegueda, vocalist and co-founder of metal band Blood Corps.

After releasing a self-titled EP and recording West Memphis Three charity single 'Justice At Last,' the band unleashed their debut album, 2011's 'Metal Renaissance,' to positive reviews. Never content to rest, A Sound of Thunder immediately began recording their second album, 'Out of the Darkness,' with producer Kevin "131" Gutierrez (Shinedown, Deceased) in May of last year.

Noisecreep is pleased to bring you the exclusive premiere of 'The Day I Die,' a cut off of the upcoming album.

Listen to 'The Day I Die' From A Sound of Thunder

"'The Day I Die' is a favorite of the whole band and really draws on our more Sabbath-y, classic metal influences. We like it fast and furious, but this song shows off our darker and more introspective side. It tells the tale of a scorned lover who takes the ultimate way out and tries to make contact from the other side," A Sound of Thunder guitarist/keyboardist Josh Schwartz told Noisecreep about the blistering track.

A Sound of Thunder will be releasing 'Out of the Darkness' on March 27 via Nightmare Records.

I just checked out that single on NoiseCreep after Lance linked to it on G+. I love that old school, very pure feeling Sabbath influence on that track. Definitely a disc I'm going to drop some coin on.

Definitely gonna pick this up. My girlfriend cannot get enough of Kill That Bitch, even though it's the slowed down version on the sampler CD. If she likes the rest as much as that, you'll have a hardcore fan on your hands! (I enjoy your music too :) )

Awwww, that is GREAT! I'm sure you'll like the real version much better (I sound much less like a man.. >_>), and we have something coming up soon for Kill That Bitch she might love. XD
