Simple version: An SD Blackout is essentially a better version of an EMG 81/85


But EMG have some new pickups in the making, so wait a bit to see what they come up with before deciding.

I LOVED the Jackson active pups in my old Charvel. Greatest chug through a Mk IV than any other pickuos on any other guitar I had at the time. The single coils produced a SWEET strat sound dirty, or clean. I DO, however, prefer passive pups....

I own a blackout, and i really really like it. it sounds great running dry into my amp, and it's really responsive. it's got a crisp, refined tone, not that squealy emg bullshit.

my jackson has JB in the bridge and stock single coils, on my schecter I want to go for something with a lot of punch and definition, and I think active pickups in league with my TSL100 is a good way to go about that
