what frequencies do you guys sugget I accentuate for the following tones

Vehemence,Diabolical Masquerade,Bloodbath,Daylight Dies,early Opeth(already got a bwp and on tone)

leadwork as well,I always figured layering effects would be simple but its come to be a frustrating prospect thus when I try to get a lead tone down it ends up coming out toooo thin,I use a gt5 and ive been experimenting using a distortion pedal in front of the preamp to drive it? but this result just gives me horrible digital noise and harshness, the attack sounds nice though, but the overtones just fuck it all up,also about applying compressor, how do I go about setting it up properly for clean and distorted tones? limiter too if anyone knows how to work those by chance...

I think you'll just have to mess around with it a bit to find the sound your happy with.

My tip is to play through the EFX loop in your amp, that sound slays the sound you get by simply lining through your GT pedal and on into the main guitar input of the amp.

If you use distortion/pre-amps in your GT pedal, run the cables like this:
Guitar > Input of GTpedal
Output of GTpedal > EFX Return on your amp

If you simply use the effects of your GTpedal, you could either keep it in the EFX loop and plug your guitar into the amp, but that may result in bad wha and phaser, the cure for that is the so called "4 cable method". Read about it at http://www.bossgtcentral.com

Also check thru the "global config" and find the best basic settings. After getting these stuff in order (maybe you already have?) you should just have to tweak around a lot.
