Listen to The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets's "Cthulhu Strikes Back". Just for fun. Came across this last year or something.

For some reason I haven't finished my Lovecraft book. I should revisit. Not sure why I stopped. I think I was reading another book or two at the same time and ended up finishing those and forgetting to go back. So I'm not very knowledgeable on Lovecraft (other than with the stories I've read), and will be interested in this issue.

One guy that even out-Lovecrafts Lovecraft (and was also an inspiration) is Arthur Machen. I recently re-read his story 'The Great God Pan'. Definitely not a good read at night with the lights low.

Machen is great. So is Clark Ashton Smith, as well. Tho CAS only wrote poetry, as far as I know,with occasional short stories.

Clark Ashton Smith wrote short stories as well, some of 'em quite Lovecraftian, others more in the Robert E. Howard-vein. Howard was the guy who invented Conan and also wrote a classic piece of weird short fiction called Pigeons From Hell
