Knoxville couple says winnings won't change much
For Mark and Rose Silor, being millionaires will be really cool.
They will now be able to install air conditioning in their home.
And central heating. And a bathtub. And a water heater.
"I'm really excited," Rose Silor, 39, said Sunday. "We're not going to have to worry about going to get kerosene. We used to have to boil water for baths and to shave."
Mark Silor, 35, won $1 million in Saturday's Tennessee Lottery's Millionaire Live drawing.

The couple plans to stay in their neighborhood near Cherokee Trail. They hope to remodel the house - a converted barn - that was Rose's childhood home.
"We'd been trying to fix it up, but it takes awhile when you ain't got no money," Rose said.
Old newspapers currently provide insulation. Once when Rose pulled a nail from the wall, a strip of paper came out too - part of an advertisement dating back to when mayonnaise cost 5 cents.
Also among their plans are replacing an inadequate water heater and installing a full-size bathtub in place of their undersized one.
They will likely fix the patched-up roof that caved in last winter.
Their four children, ages 16-20, and three Chihuahuas have many days of pampering to come.
"It'll be a lot easier to breathe," Rose said. "We're so far in debt."
Tennessee's first instant lottery millionaires are from South Knoxville. I love it.
The article says Rose drives Mark to work because "he doesn't drive" and that she had to save up change to go to the Chinese buffet with her sister. Mark, on the other hand, had $8 for scratch-off lottery tickets, and plans to give $1000 each to 19 of his co-workers. At least he got lucky. (It doesn't say how many tickets he had to buy to get eight qualifying tickets for the grand prize drawing).
The article says they got a check for $750,000 after taxes. Mark better do some ciphering and set some of the money aside. Seems to me like his Federal Income Tax will be around $324,643. Plus penalty if he doesn't start filing quarterly estimated returns.
Anyway, congratulations to the newest South Knox Millionaire!
