hey all. This has probably been asked before. I did a couple of searches and basically didn't find anything aside from the overdose of "what are you doing right now?" threads, lol.

I'm playing the drums in this band of mine, and we're trying to make our very own instrumental. I've listened to a couple, but not too many--stream of consciousness (which is my fav), Ytse Jam, YYZ, and that's basically it lol.

I am looking for some more metal-oriented instrumental songs ASIDE from the metallica ones (i listened to them all didn't like 'em, but that's just me) so me and my "band" can get a good general idea of how we want to compose our instrumental.

Thanks so much, and sorry if this has been posted already!!

This is interesting. I once tried to make a mix of (good) instrumentals from albums that really sucked. I only remember two from the mix though:
Sepultura - Kamaitachi (from 'Against')
Fear Factory - Full Metal Contact (from 'Digimortal')

Scale the Summit is fast becoming one of my favourite bands. New album coming soon!

Sleep Terror were absolutely fantastic until vocals were added, kinda ruins the music for me in that case.

Great call on Morphing Into Nothing (the Andromeda song), one of my favourite instrumental tracks.

Might I also add Canvas Solaris, Blotted Science and Spastic Ink on the metal side of things.

The Fractured Dimension is probably my favourite instrumental band, kinda Jazz/20th-century composition with metal influence. Ron Jarzombek even plays on it!

Humanoid are also fantastic, it's a side project with one of the guys from Augury and the 9-string bassist from uneXpect, but it's completely different from their respective bands, more atmospheric classical guitar with prog elements, not much metal in there, definately worth a listen.

Maybe check out Exivious too, currently working on their first album, has Tymon who performed on the new Cynic album in it, looks like some awesome stuff. More stuff about it over at the Spiral Architect forum.
