Thanks for the nice comments dudes.
and yes we are Belgian, and the name hasn't got anything to do with Veggie's,
I think our name comes from when we where very drunk one evening, and our drummer was driving a Saab at the time

Pol let me welcome you to the Ultimate Metal Old School forum. Its great having you here. What happening with the band and when are you guys going to get a website?

wow i just got to know about Pantommind, but haven't heard the whole album yet... you listed them as #10 so i think i really have to get the CD!
what did you think of them Hawk?

I really like them. If you take into account that they are a band from Bulgaria, meaning they must feel pretty isolated. And then to turn out such a damn good album!

Yea you can say that not only do I think they are absolutely great, I also have a lot of respect for them.

Their new album, they already released a self financed album in 1999, is really beautiful! If you are interested wait no longer and get it! :)

:headbang: Pantommind - Shade of Fate

Heres a few I liked. And some might be pre-2005 sorry!
Nightrage-Descent Into Chaos
Graveworm-Engraved In Black
Immolation-Harnessing Ruin
Napalm Death-The Code Is Red...
Soilwork-Stabbing The Drama
Arch Enemy-The Doomsday Machine
Despised Icon-The Healing Process
3 Inches Of Blood-Advance And Vanquish

Favorite show-Probably the COC/Crowbar show June 2, 2005 at the Vogue
man Crowbar just crushed everyone with some seriously brutal riffing and
COC played everything from Hungry Child to Vote With A Bullet plus I love to
see shows at smaller venues. Ozzfest with all those great Swedish metal
bands came in a close second.
My new favourite venue Club Logos in Franklin In nice small town with a very
professional all ages club with a killer PA and great lighting plus the x-box
stations and pool tables were really cool. Birdys came in 2nd with all cool
metal fests I seen this year with Macabre, thorns of the carrion and Reverend
Bizarre!
Surprise of the year Head leaving korn and that dumbass video they are about to release with all those rappers acting like them I hope this puts a fitting end to all
that shitty mallratt nu-metal once and for all!:puke:

In no particular order

Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine
Cathedral - The Garden Of Unearthly Delights
Exodus - Shovel Headed Kill Machine
Judas Priest - Angel Of Retribution
Kreator - Enemy Of God
Nile - Annihilation Of The Wicked
Obituary - Frozen In Time
Overkill - Relix IV
Spiritual Beggars - Demons
Strapping Young Lad - Alien

1.judas priest-angel of retribution
2.exodus-shovel headed kill machine
3.obituary-frozen in time
4.agnostic front-another voice
5.anthrax-alive 2
6.madnall-legacy
7.biohazard means to an end
8.municipal waste-hazardous mutation
9.most precious blood-merciless
10.waiting on new slayer!!!!!!!!!!!

In order as of right now, with the understanding that the order may change with a mood swing:

1) Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor
2) Redemption - The Fullness of Time
3) Symphorce - Godspeed
4) Scar Symmetry - Symmetric in Design
5) Kamelot - The Black Halo
6) Brainstorm - Liquid Monster
7) Beyond Twilight - Section X
8) Green Carnation - Quiet Offspring
9) Pagan's Mind - Enigmatic: Calling
10) Circus Maximus - The 1st Chapter

There's a few others that are working their way up a bit. I just got Sieges Even and with just a few listens in I'd say that it has a real chance to crack the top 10 before the end of the year. Looking back, I've probably purchased more newly released CDs this year than I have in a really long time. I think it was an incredible year for metal/hard rock.

6. Robert Plant - Mighty Rearranger
Robert Plant settles into his old-age and makes his best solo record (in my opion). Atmospheric and moving. Honors the past, moves into the future.

I just picked up that Robert Plant cd this past week. Really quite a surprisingly good album; reminds me a bit of P/P Walking into Clarksdale at times. Atmospheric is a very good description. Definately exceeded my expectations.

I don't think I've purched 10 2005 CDs yet... Guess I've been slacking off.

1 Opeth - Ghost Reveries
2 Bruce Dickinson - Tyranny of Souls
3 Iommi/Hughes - Fused
4 Robert Plant- Mighty Rearranger
5 D&W - Touched by the Crimson King
6 Nevermore - Godless Endeavor
7 Glenn Hughes - Soul Mover
8 Hammerfall - Chp V

1.) Iommi/Hughes-Fused
2.) Force of Evil-Black Empire
3.) Nevermore-This Godless Endeavor
4.) Vivian Campbell-Two Sides of If
5.) Demons and Wizards-Touched by the Crimson King
6.) Primal Fear-Seven Seals
7.) Shooter Jennings-Let's Put the O Back in Country
8.) Arch Enemy-Doomsday Machine
9.) Soilwork-Stabbing the Drama
10.) Symphorce-Godspeed

Oh god this is gonna be hard.

I think my number one this year is
1.Brainstorm Liquid Monster- I worshipped this album for a month straight and refused to buy anything else because I knew i couldnt find anything I would like as much.
2.Nevermore- This Godless Endeavor- As soon as Born hit its chorus it made me weep.
3.DragonLand Starfall
4.Symphorce Godspeed
5.Stormwarrior Northern Rage
6.Exodus Shovel Headed Kill Machine
7. Municipal Waste Hazardous Mutation
8.NightRage Descent Into Chaos
9.Hypocrisy Virus
10.FireWind Forged By Fire

but New Primal Fear and Children Of Bodom have yet to come out yet and theres a few others which are awfully close. I.E. Soilwork and Demons and Wizards and Hammerfall.

Cool! You know, it's not Physical Graffitti, and couldn't be. But it is one of the first albums in which I have let Robert Plant (in my mind) be something else. You know, not "Percy," as they used to call him. The tunes are strong, and it really does have a vibe. He could just phone it in at this point. But I feel he doesn't.

It's still way too early to tell, I need a few months into '06 to determine the best of '05. For me, it's all about stickiness. I buy alot of albums I really like, but that doesn't necessarily mean they reach out to me from the shelf 90 days down the line. I need a generous chunk of time after a release to really know where it ranks in my hallowed halls. Ironically, it always seems like my fav albums of the year get released right at the end, November and December (I am currently awaiting several releases I expect to be top-10: Stream of Passion, Dead Soul Tribe, Icarus Witch).

That said, here's how things are stacking up:

Early nominees:

Astral Doors - Evil is Forever
Russell Allen's Atomic Soul
Lana Lane - Lady MacBeth
Falconer - Grime vs. Grandeur
Kamelot - The Black Halo
Judas Priest - Angel of Retribution

Latest aquisitions recently nominated:

Iommi/Hughes - Fused
Opeth - Ghost Reveries
Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor
Sabaton - Primo Victoria
Symphorce - Godspeed

Albums I think I'd like but haven't heard yet:

Shadow Gallery
Pagan's Mind
Seiges Even
Allen/Lande
Porcupine Tree
Green Carnation
Subterranean Masquerade
Glenn Hughes
Demon
Pantommind

All three 2005 releases from these bands are stellar.
The Shadow Gallery has more vocal melodies than anything I've ever heard!
I already have Legacy and Tyranny, so I'm well aware what Shadow Gallery is capable of. From reviews and song samples I've heard, it sounds like I'd really like this. Trust me, Soundmaster, it is very high on my wish list!

Wuthering Heights - To Travel For Evermore

10. New Slayer! :headbang: (nyhc I hear ya on that!)
