Katatonia status 2008

Ah well, I didn't know that. I tend to think of all the singles/B-sides associated with a particular album as belonging to that 'session'.
Usually that's the case, so not a strange thing to think.
And I'm pretty sure that it was Jonas's idea to have one CD showcasing the heavy stuff and one CD the mellow, not the label's. But it was originally supposed to be one double-album. The label didn't want to do that, so they instead released 'Deliverance' and 'Damnation' as two separate albums. That must be what you're thinking of.
Now that you mention it, you're probably right.

I'm sure I missed something... What DVD are you guys talking about?

The last dvd was kind of a teaser if you will. This next one will be the real deal. Although I think they should wait until at least one more cd so there will be newer material.

Do you mean the Live Consternation DVD or the Black Session one?

I mean, it was just a concert with no extras at all. I would appreciate a DVD like Lamentations from Opeth with the complete making of... :)

But I heaven't heard anything about that topic so far...

I mean Live Consternation was just a teaser. If you search around we had a big conversation with Anders on the subject quite some time ago. Basically there will be lots of bonus footage on the next one rest assured.

did someone change their minds or is this plain bullshit?

ok here's the deal... we have been supposed to enter the studio on two locations already but ended up postponing both because we simply didn't manage to come up with enough (fantastic) material yet. so we decided booking a studio and working towards a deadline won't work for us this time (while it did work on every album before) that's why we're now in a situation where we'll write the album first and THEN book the studio once we're confident the completed material represents our best. as u can tell, this has been the toughest process of our career trying write and top the last album. there's both a writer's block and pressure involved and we're also not sure were we're going 100%. one side of us wants to make songs like unfurl and explore that sound way deeper and one side wants to go the opposite, so who knows, maybe it'll end up being a balance of them both and not too far from The Great Cold Distance, but at the same time we're determined not to make two albums twice and the same after such a long time has passed inbetween the releases again. its' safe to say tho that we know we'll just follow our guts and go with what feels right for us at the very moment and hopefully it will all be worth it, and feel all right we're done, but it aint easy. we're looking at entering the studio again somwhere between summer-autumn, so the album will most certainly be a 2009 release and once again create a 3 year gap between them.

Don't let us eagerly awaiting fans presure you!
Music shouldn't be a job it's magic :)
Without the right energy in yourself my fear is that musicians come up with uninspired far fetched stuff.
But I'm not a musician that's been around for a decade or so, so maybe I still have a too romantic view about it?
Somehow I just don't see the point in having to make music when you actually don't have the music flowing through your mind already.

Nah, just misinformation. Oh, well the more time the more we can expect a bigger, and better progression.
