New DT-DVD!

I wonder if they will release this under HD-DVD or Blu-Ray as well.

Where there any other live shows recorded in HD by now?

You can release anything in the new formats, but do they normally shoot in HD these days? 720p doesn't count :)

BTW, Motorhead had two clips in HD on their DVD, but that was in videofile format. Pretty cool.

^ Yeah I was thinking about that too, DT has to be on par with technology. Though I guess most people don't own one of those yet (like me :erk: ), so they'd have to release it on 3 dif. formats! :p (Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, DVD).

some movies are being released hd! and also most of porn movies are now HD!

@LBRH: you are absolutely right. HD is not enough widespread to take the risk of commercially limiting the potential audience.

HD are just catching up with DVD at the moment i.e. Starting with slightly older films. Casino Royale is the only film to be released on both formats as far as I know, but I think the way HD and Blu-ray are going we'll eventually get some live shows. Would be cool actually, seeing fret torture in pristine detail.

They need to play somewhere where the entire crowd will hum the chorus to Miserys Crown iron maiden "WOOOOOAAAAAAH EYYYYYYOOOO!" style and sing the verses "Killswitch Engage - End of Heartache" anthem style. Not to mention breaking out a g1ant necro circle pit during the verse of Inside the Particle Storm! I wanna be at that show.

And hire Peter Jackson to digitize some Orcs into the crowd as well? :p

Happy Feet is getting both Blue-Ray and HD-DVD too. And the crowd was humming the part before "If I had wings..." pretty loud in Philly last time.

The show GOT to be shot in at least 720p (wait... what is the standard on DVD& 480 lines?) these days (1080i would be great, but equipment costs are still quite high), because you can always "downgrade" to DVD quality, the other way around won't be easy, if possible at all.

Plus - when do metalheadz get all the recent gadgets which would be able to play movies and shows in HD? Well, most of them live with their parents, so releasing metal shows in HD could be an option after all

Still I think blu-Ray would be a much better option than HD-DVD :) .

@Nico: Yeah we'd have to wait a bit before those formats are truly spread :Smug: . I think I actually saw a NIN on all three ver. mentioned before :loco: .

Can't they just restart the fires of isengard and send a horde of orcs to the show anyway :p?
One does not simply mosh their way into Gothenburg.

The big problem is: Inventor of the Blu-Ray Sony doesn't want the porn industry to use it -> HD-DVD is way better. :Smug:

BTW, the format chosen by porn industry is going to win... but HD-DVD could have leveraged/compromised the competition by letting porn using their format, as it wasn't popular in movies recently.

Holy crap! *runs out to buy Live Damage*

^^ Blu-Ray will support Pr0n, they're not that dumb. Even though i despise Sony i think Blu-Ray will "win", but i'll still wait for a dual format player:kickass:

Below is taken from the Official DT Site, I hope it's true because IMO I think the Live Damage dvd sucks.

So far so good- June 21, 2007

Festivals are going fine, and footage is starting to appear on YouTube, Flickr and the usual media sharing sites. We've also had lots of photo submissions sent to us, and we promise that there will be an update (also including the pics from the Japan/Korea/Australia shows last year as well as the recent US tour) as soon as possible. There also are some VERY cool tattoo pics just waiting to be posted.

However, since we'll leave Gothenburg at 04:30 tomorrow morning for the Bang your head and Hellfest festivals, there's only time to post a quick link to the fine people at Rockfoto, who documented out show at Hultsfred last weekend. Check the photos out here:

Speaking of Hultsfred, this show was the first to display a set of animations and projections during our performance. The whole gig was filmed with pro equipment and there's a possibility that the footage will be publically available in the future.
