Nightwish turn "green"
04/01/2008

As a committed vegetarian and nature-boy at heart, Jukka leads Nightwish to new and greener paths. His studies have revealed that concerts have the most potential for energy-saving, so the band will introduce some changes to their live shows:

Lights
The many stage lights needed for a concert literally burn a huge amount of energy. As usual, the easiest solution is the best: Replace them with energy-saving lamps. As you probably know from your home, those lamps need a few minutes to reach their full luminance, so the intro music will be played with all lights on in the future.

Pyros/Effects
Special effects play a big role in Nightwish's live performances and will continue to do so. The key to making those more friendly to the environment is recycling. Due to technical limitations, gas flames and fireworks cannot easily be recycled, so they will no longer be used by Nightwish. Instead, the band will use much more confetti. Recycling bins will be put up by all exits and fans are kindly asked to pick up the confetti and deposit it into the according bins when leaving the venue.

Website
Following the band's good example, the webmasters of Nightwish.com have also worked out an energy-saving plan. Everybody knows that the IT industry is among the biggest energy consumers. That is why we will introduce business hours to the website and turn the server off during the remaining time. From now on, Nightwish.com will be open for visitors on weekdays from 9am to 12pm and from 1pm to 6pm. We realize that this is a bit of a disadvantage for our visitors from abroad, but we are all trying to save the same planet after all...

:heh:

that would be awsome if nightwish covers everyone in confetti like the flaming lips
