I found this on the MetalExtreme messageboard

Beyond The Embrace and Jag Panzer used the same drum
set and had the same guy at the FOH (front of house) mixing them. Even
with the extended set that Beyond The Embrace played the drums were
still muddy and overbearing throughout the entire mix and the three
guitar attack was barely audible. Now believe me, I am no super mixer
and there are far better audio engineers than myself, but I could have
made Beyond The Embrace sound ten times better in the time frame of
two songs! But wait, you say maybe it was just the equipment? Why
then, when Jag Panzer came on to play, the exact same guy with the
exact same equipment and the exact same drum set had Jag Panzer
sounding great??? I'll tell you why: it was either Jag Panzer's FOH
mixing guy and he didn't want Beyond The Embrace to sound better than
Jag Panzer or he was told by someone (management/band either Jag
Panzer or Helloween) not to put much effort into their sound quality.
My question is why??? I have seen this so many times. Do the
headliners feel that threatened by an opening band??? If they do, they
should either get out of the business or get different opening bands!
