First off, a big thanks to JeffTD for making this possible. He included just about all the information here to get us started - I'm merely the 'bookie'.

This essentially lists a number of popular records with their reputed rhythm guitar gear lists. Some of them may be incomplete, but this is all of the information we could put together for the time being, as accurately as we could.

You all are welcome to add your own entries to the thread, which may be picked up and tacked on to the OP here. Enjoy.

FWIW, this first run started as a test of "What insane shit can Jeff remember from Sneap albums when running through his iTunes."

I'll be going through later and doing a Fredman/Bogren list, as well.

cool list....would take it with a grain of salt though....just because Sneap reamped/recorded it doesn't mean that it's definitely just a single sm57 and an 820...he's also used a second mic sometimes and a different boost.
Are you guys 100% sure about the Mesa OD on the gathering? and was there no m201 on TLKW Recto tracks?

Not sure whether this concerns TFW or just Pray for Villains, but I'm sure Mike uses Blackouts rather than EMGs

I have a suggestion, since the pickup's interaction with the body material is quite important as well, why not try to include the what guitar was used or even what wood the guitar was to the list?
Just a thought..

^^^ +1. I was going to make the same suggestion... Knowing the pickup is half the equation. It would be nice to know the guitar or a description of the guitar if it is known. i.e. Alder Jackson Soloist, or Mahogany Schecter Hellraiser, or whatever...

Good start to a cool list, though.
Cheers.

Yeah, and maybe we could try to add like the length of the players fingers as well? And get like a chart of how each of the players fingers relate in size and thickness to each other? OH and a diary of the band, so we now exactly how they were feeling when they recorded each riff, and what was going through their hearts. If we could get a list of their dietary habbits too then we would really be in action!

If anyone has any additional info or anything feel free to add, especially STYE since all I know is what Bergstrand told me like 5 years ago.

Thanks guys. I've added your entries to the main post. Since we have no way of verifying any of these perfectly, we rely on your good intentions to make sure the entries are accurate enough for the benefit of others!
