Most gins are not meant to be drank straight. A gin + tonic, a tom collins, those are good drinks. Long Island Iced teas have gin in them too.

Gin is most definitely meant to be mixed up.

I had a long island yesterday. I was at the rib house with steve. This band was playing... they were actually pretty good but they didnt play anything i liked really and they were old heads.... but i started fucking hardcore dancing and shit. they loved it.
