What is your favorite genre(s) of metal?

Thrash and speed metal definantly, followed by heavy/traditional metal, and glam.

Lately:

1. Black
2. Doom (Only listen to My Dying Bride but intend to get November's Doom, Paradise Lost, Draconian,Swallow the Sun etc.)
3. Death (starting to appreciate it but will take time... so far just listen to Vital Remains, Behemoth, and Bloodbath)
4. Thrash (i grew up in the scene back in the 80's)
5. Classic Metal (i like my maiden , priest, dio, early ozzy etc.)

Progressive Metal.
Power Metal.
Black Metal.

I like a good bit of Thrash and Death, but I get bored of them after awhile.

Doom (traditional, funeral and death/doom mostly)
Gothic
Thrash
Death (Progressive mostly)
Black (some, getting into it more, I like Black N Roll, Experimental and blackened death the most so far)

The top two are my passions, basically gothic doom, beauty and the beast vocals, a lot of bands that play slower, mournful, melodic, beautiful music. Big fan of atmosphere as well, that is a given for Doom, Gothic or Black Metal for me, Death Metal and Thrash less so, that just kicks arse, headbanging music.

US power metal (from Lethal and Sacred Rite to Helstar and Pharaoh)

Progressive (from Zero Hour and Spiral Architect to Polaris and Cea Serin)

NWoBHM (from Angel Witch and Mythra to Gaskin and Elixir)

Thrash (from early Testament and Heathen to Merciless Death and Strikemaster)

So, anything traditional and with a certain degree of melody, basically.:)

I have a soft spot for metal from Canada; Canadian bands usually release excellent discs (Sacred Blade/Othyrworld, In The Name, Zions Abyss, Final Stage, Cauldron, Heavens Cry, to name a few).

Another preference would be technical thrash like WatchTower, Realm, Anacrusis, Toxik. I just love that insane stuff.:kickass:

Black/death/grind and the like are not for me; Immortal's At the heart of winter, Arch enemy's Wages of sin and the Death catalogue being the few exceptions.

Black
Melodic death (none of the newer stuff)
Straight grind (Nasum, Napalm, Terrorizer) pornogrind/goregrind etc excluded.

I've noticed a lot of music coming from that whole Scandinavian/Norweigan region i.e Norway, Sweden, Denmark ect... put out awesome metal! A lot of my favorite bands come from this area. I love the whole Folk Metal that comes from this area along with all the Viking theme bands too... bad ass stuff if you ask me.

exact opposite for me. for the most part, I cannot tolerate overtly melodic stuff without going :puke:

alas, I am in a minority here, which sucks, but I deal.

:worship: great list I'm glad I'm not the only one here who likes the power/progressive stuff the most (cept I must say I love black metal and like death metal).

PREMONITION'S BACK!

PREMONITION sold well in Greece, Japan and somewhere in the Ukraine.

Toured US with several heavy metal fests and
had a song profiled as background music for the TV show
SMALLVILLE.

Recently PREMONITION was included in an indie music video CD called Best Music Videos You've Never Seen, Vol. 3. Great music... Well produced!

Now they're going to do it one more time!

Cool Stuff

Check out their music at:

Since you mentioned Greece, i still remember the review of the first Premonition album in a magazine here where the reviewer said that he originally thought you were a nu metal band because of the "Tattoo Frank" thing and your album cover. Welcome back anyway.
