When I was in high school, I'd try to impress people by playing some classical guitar, and when I was finished, they looked kinda bored and would say "Now play thunderstruck!"
True story.
 
I read music better than most guitarists I know, and play some really complicated jazz pieces (reading music, not tabs) and still no one is impressed. And people wonder why I never play in front of people?
