Lots of people are criticising his vocals on record and live, but if anyone happened to watch the TV footage of their Reading appearance, Bruce was hitting the notes in Run to the Hills better than he has for years.
I'd be the first to admit his golden years are behind him, but many band's whole careers are behind them by the time they're in their late 40s. Bruce is still a more than credible singer, and an irreplacable part of Maiden, as the Blaze years tragically showed.

Bruce is still at the top of his game.
I know it was a few years ago now, but just watch him on the Rock In Rio dvd. I can't think of any other singer that could sing like that, whilst running around like mad non stop and not missing a breathe or hitting a bum note.
The man is a phenomenon.
