I can't believe i forgot about biomechanical. and as for Communic... vocals... to me sound like a mix of Warrel Dane and Matt Barlow of iced earth fame. but that's just my opinion.

^^ lol, you haven't listened to much metal? (@ Dead Winter... Gojira isn't the heaviest band around)

Anyway, listen to these:

Korpiklaani - Folk metal à la finntroll. Only more beer-drinking inducing

Keep of Kalessin - Very fast thrash/black metal. Satyricon members playing here. Frost drummed for them too

Tankard - Excellent and underrated thrash metal band.

Stormlord - Over the top death metal with a lot of synchs and lots of riffing. Even though this may sound unattractive, you can't help but like this band.

Keep of Kalessin or (Kok :p, for short) are fucking excellent. In the same vein, but possibly better are Carpathian Forest.

hmmm all I can tell is that I listened to both and prefer Keep of Kalessin, have you listened to Armada? (the new KoK hehe)

To an extent it is on topic, semantics would dictate it off-topic.

But you are the nazimod! :p.

Nocturnal Breed! Blackened Thrash - the absolute best, beer soaked shit there is. I've never heard a blackened thrash half as good as these guys. Plus, when I saw them in Oslo, they had live strippers on for the entire set.

wow give us a break Willy boy, we only made 2 posts about said band. Did you ever saw me post more than 3 times in a row about the same topic? Don't be like that V5 guy :tickled:

yeah, but i dont want people to have to scroll through shit just to find new bands. I want discussion in this thread to an absolute minimum. I'm never against straying away from topics, but this one I wish stay just for new posts mentioning different bands

Aye, Gojira aren't the heaviest going, but they're fucking fabulous nonetheless. It's a no-brainer, okay, but I don't see anyone else mentioning them:
Solitude Aeternus
Porcupine Tree

Hell no! Perhaps the storming live set made me fanboyish, but they are awesome. I've been a fan of CP for years, but I like NB better.

Of course they aren't the heaviest band around...I'd say Nile or Necrophagist are in that realm, but Gojira is the first band in ages that I'm really excited about. A little Morbid Angel and some Meshuggah and there you have it. The reason I like them so much is because they are different than most other death metal bands. Nile, Behemoth, and now Gojira are really the only "brutal" death metal bands that I listen to (although Gojira isn't really that brutal) due to the fact that all the others sound the same and Nile and Behemoth are the only ones that have anything interesting to say. There are thousands of death metal bands who are just a carbon copy of something else, which is why I choose to listen only to the best, the cream of the crop. Gojira is the first band in ages that understands that hooks in death metal are actually a good thing, and that's what I meant by heaviness. Just because someone tunes to drop A doesn't mean they're heavier. Why don't we just get a 20 string guitar and have a contest on who's heavier, and the winner gets the crown by finding the lowest tone? Heaviness (IMO) is how it makes you feel, not if someone's faster or tuned down further.

Tankard is a way underrated thrash metal band...the Beauty and the Beer. Get it.

Seen Korpiklaani last year...nice guys, folk beer metal. Funny, too.

Check out Steel Attack...heavy/power metal with a Ripper Owens-like singer. Great songs.

The new Dimmu is not bad, don't listen to what all the elitists say. Good riffs in there, too. Not as good as others, but definitely not a waste of money. All the elitists I think are still waiting for their "tr00, nekr0, and gr1m prize" in the mailbox from bands who don't know or care who they are.

Agalloch is another great band, check them out too.

Anaal Nathrakh...bleak, raw, fast, and hateful black/thrash with a touch of death. If Emperor had a rabid dog, that dog would be Anaal Nathrakh. Some passages are similar to Emperor around IX Equilibrium. New album is more brutal, less black than Domine Non Es Dignus.

Bloodbath...check out both lineups with Mike Ackerfeldt and Peter Tatgren singing. Peter came after Mike. Good, brutal, easy to get into death metal. Very accessible to the death metalhead.

Billy Squier - the album Don't Say No...kicks off with an awesome song called In the Dark. It's not metal, not even close. Came out in 1982. You may hate it, you may love it. I've been listening since 1982 when I was 4 years old. Just good, driving classic rock.
