Other than JOP, I am not familiar with most of the bands. Would someone mind giving a quick description each band's sound, lyrical content and any other bands they may remind you of. Also, recommendations on which albums to buy, if they have multiple CDs. If this has already been covered, I apoplogize - I've been away from this site for awhile.

Thanx,
Chris :headbang:

Riverside- Pink Floyd/Porcupine Tree mellow prog,
Iron Savior- European power metal ala Gamma Ray,
Volbeat- Stray Cats meets Life of Agony, rockabilly pop metal
Astral Doors- Dio/Rainbow
Andromeda- melodic prog ala Dreamscape but with more chops
Elvenking- Folk Metal with hooks
Spheric Universe Experience- Dream Theater style with punch
Serenity- true prog/power hybrid, Sonata Arctica meets Superior
Pathosray- Circus Maximus prog, self-titled

How about someone posting links to these band's MySpace pages or official websites until a certain someone gets the new website up-and-running? ;)

Spheric Universe Experience- Dream Theater style with punch
I bought their debut well before your announcement. My biggest problem with them was a lack of punch/crunch. Perhaps it's a production issue, and hopefully they'll come across as more energetic/aggressive live. I think these guys have the potential to go over big, assuming the get a great mix and are tight live.

Hey Glenn... do they have a 2nd disc coming out prior to PP?

"Mental Torments" was the first disc via Nightmare. Their 2nd disc, "Anima" was released this year on Sensory. Which one do you have? I prefer "Anima" myself.

Riverside- Their newest is probably the best

Astral Doors- Evil Is Forever

Andromeda- II= I

Spheric Universe Experience- Mental Torments is the best...Anima is not bad though

Serenity- l like their first one the best

Pathosray - Debut is good

Serenity- true prog/power hybrid, Sonata Arctica meets Superior

As someone that hadn't heard of any of the bands except for JOP and Andromeda, I bought 1 cd from each of the bands and of all of them, SERENITY has by far been played the most by me. Kick ass album and a big surprise to me. It definately reminds me of Sonata with a mix of Symphony X. I also enjoyed Volbeat a lot so I bought their 1st album as well. I've let some of my friends that don't go to ProgPower take a listen to the Serenity album and it blew them away as well. Definately a band to be reconned with in the future. Too bad they only have the one album out, looking foward to their new one.

Get Iron Savior's Condition Red, then Batterin Ram, then Unification, then Megatropolis, Dark Assualt/S/T are nothing to go crazy over
