desktop video editing software?

Hey media nerds! I need a recommendation of a software package that I can use in my office to capture face / voice from a webcam and also input from a digital writing tablet so that I can create instructional videos for use in on-line math classes. Our IT folks recommend Camtasia, can anyone second that recommendation or suggest another one? Thanks!

We use Camtasia at my work. Personally, I hate the program as I'm so used to other editing programs, but for what you want, it's probably the best bet opposed to a pricey editor.

Camtasia is really not bad, but it can be a pain.
