THRASH FUCKING TERROR

I recently got back into Testament and bought The Gathering. Fucking shreds. Then there's Kreator's Enemy of God. Better than most anything they've done in the past and lord knows, there are many atrocities in the world that gives Mille material to write around.

Exodus' Tempo of the Damned is a pretty good return, too. I'm glad thrash is coming back. Now if only Artillery can put out one more album, I'd be set.

^Enemy of God didn't have any lasting impact on me. It was great when I got it, but it hasn't seen the light of day since the 2nd week I owned it. As far as I'm concerned, Violent Revolution was better.

My favorites:

Destroyer 666 - Unchain the Wolves
Destroyer 666 - Phoenix Rising
Destroyer 666 - Terror Abraxas (not a full album, but it's still a favorite)
Artillery - Terror Squad
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Gospel of the Horns - A Call to Arms
Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Sodom - Agent Orange

Dark Angel-Darkness Descends
Anthrax-Persistence of Time

Dekapitator-We Will Destroy...You Will Obey!
Exhorder-Slaughter In The Vatican
Exodus-Bonded By Blood
Megadeth-Rust in Peace/Peace Sells
Metallica-Kill 'Em All
Overkill-The Years Of Decay
Slaughter-early demos
Slayer-Reign In Blood
Sodom-In The Sign Of Evil/Obsessed By Cruelty
Whiplash-Power and Pain

I don't really know why everyone considers Destroyer 666 Thrash Metal more than other genres when they really don't favor Thrash in the least. Still fucking amazing band though.

You're right, D666 shares influence with as much death and black as thrash, but for me at least, it's just the feeling I get when listening to it. Not something I get from any other genre than thrash, so I call them thrash.

Destroyer666 are a black metal band with catchyness and groove. They are not thrash, though there may be some thrash influence. There are several black metal bands I can think of that are more thrash than Destroyer666 is, such as Alastor, Grimness, 1349, Haemoth, etc.

I agree Alastor are very thrashy, but I don't think there's any way that 1349 are more thrashy than D666.

I think there's a good reason they call this stuff "black thrash" after all :p

I would actually call Alastor a Thrash band, as I really don't hear any other influence than Thrash in the riffing at all, based solely on the couple of times I've listened to Hellward.

Exumer - Possessed By Fire
Protector - Golem
Laaz Rockit - Nothing$ $Acred
Thrasher - Burning At The Speed Of Light
Agressor - Neverending Destiny

In no order!

Alastor are black metal, though it is extremely thrashy black metal. They sound a lot like first wave black metal ala Bathory, but they sometimes do have more modern sounding black metal tremolo riffs.
