much more I can't think of right now... :headbang:

For long drives I like my music to be furious. A lot of speed and/or really heavy.
I'll have to say:

Puya: Fundamental
Kreator: Coma of Souls
Sepultura: Beneath the Remains
Obituary: Slowly We Rot
Into Eternity: Buried in Oblivion
Overkill: Taking Over
Carnal Forge: Aren't You Dead Yet?
Slayer: Reign In Blood
Pantera: Vulgar Display of Power
Iced Earth: Something Wicked...

Yeah, I usually listen to a lot of death metal in the car. But I find that for long trips, it's a great time to listen to Light of Day, Day of Darkness. Any other time I try, I usually get interrupted multiple times during it and I prefer hearing it where I only maybe have to stop it once.
Right now the mp3 CD in my car features the entire Ensiferum catalog, Raintime-Tales From Sadness, After Forever-Remagine, entire Battlelore catalog & Tarot-Crows Fly Black plus a few random songs. I usually make a new one every few weeks.

Well there are too many to name but right off my fav roadtrip masterpieces are:

Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory
Angra - Temple Of Shadows
QR - Operation Mindcrime
Rush - Hemispheres

Long drives require major diversity....likely to hear Rhapsody followed by Depeche Mode followed by Iced Earth followed by Lou reed followed by Brian Setzer Orchestra followed by Fates Warn.....well you get the idea....

Gamma Ray - Majestic
Therion - Sirius B/Lemuria (I tend to favor Sirius B)
Angra - Temple of Shadows
Puya - Fundamental
Ankla - Steep Trails
Blind Guardian - Live (disc 1 most of the time)
Avantasia - Metal Opera I

The latter is my official Don't-Fall-Asleep CD. My "long drives" are defined as any late night drive when I have had a few too many cold ones, so the above list is specifically designed to keep me awake. If I haven't had too much cerveza, I listen to pretty much anything as I usually have 15+ cds in my car (no ipod).

I think the Iced Earth - Alive In Athens is a good set to listen to on trips. That's what I listened to on the way down to PP this past September and it almost lasted me the entire trip from Tennessee.

Type O Negative- Bloody Kisses
Savatage- Edge of Thorns
Into Eternity- Scattering of the Ashes
Alice in Chains- Facelift
Gwar- America Must be Destroyed
Iron Maiden- Killers
Iced Earth- Horror Show
Tad Morose- Modus Vivendi
Freak Kitchen- Move
The Last Dance- Reflections of Rage
Lords of Acid- VooDoo-u
Dark Tranquility- Alone in the Dark

Any and all: Judias Priest and Tenacious D

Any and all of the ProgPower Samplers

iPods are PERFECT for this type of thing too! Just make sure you get an adapter that CHARGES as it plays or you'll be left with out an iPod after about 3- 5 hours.
