"I think albums are dying."

One thing that's killing albums is releasing too many, too often, with too many songs.

This ! My favourite albums are usually not the longest ones. Especially in fast paced metal I feel like anything over 10 songs is tiring and irrelevant most of the time. I personally enjoy 7 track albums of about 35/40mn a lot more than 15 songs with half of them being fillers !

Number of tracks I couldn't care less about but album duration? Definitely. Type O Negative are retarded for making 70 minute fucking albums.
