What are you listening to lately? Drop some knowledge on me...

Me?

John Coltrane - Giant Steps (2LP 45rpm Bernie Grundman mastering)
Terumasa Hino - Hogiauta (vinyl)
Terumasa Hino - Taro's Mood (24 bit remaster)
Bobo Stenson - Goodbye

Jan Garbarek - Photo With Blue Sky, White Cloud, Wires, Windows and a Red Roof (1979)

Great ECM album with Eberhard Weber on bass, Jon Christensen on drums, Bill Connors on guitar and John Taylor on piano. This one has some bite to it.

Ron Carter - Where? (1961)

Really good album with Mal Waldron and Dolphy.

Karl Berger - No Man Is An Island

Incredible live set with a big band of great musicians.

Anthony Braxton & Richard Teitelbaum - Time Zones

Cool experimental set, a bit nuts but a lot of fun.

How about some stuff you can listen to. lol. These work lately,

High Life by Wayne Shorter. Maybe 1994. So smooth yet not. One of his best.

After Hours by George Duke. Plays tons of Yamaha Grand. Essential George Duke.

Fire Wire by Larry Carlton. Shredding.

Native Heart by Tony Willams. Hands down his best solo work. Band is smoking and Tony plays his ass on! Late '80s on Blue Note.

Black Hope by Kenny Garret. He's an all-timer, this is his best. Swings so hard.

Turning Point by Kevin Eubanks. If you dont know, he is a shred monster. If you like the Vinny era with Zappa you should find this fascinating. On Blue Note.

Theres some Jazz!

I'm a sucker for most ECM ensembles. Garbarek in general is always going to be high quality stuff.

Another great ECM album: Jack DeJohnette - Special Edition (1980)

Plus Wolfgang Dauner Trio - Music Zounds (1970)

This is one a strange one that sounds mostly hard-bop but has some weirdness here or there.

I like most of his stuff, but I am partial to free jazz :D

Listening to Mal Waldron - Crowd Scene (1992) two 20+ minutes compositions, nice modal jazz. I am becoming a big fan of Mal Wladron. This guy played with Don Cherry, John Coltrane, Eberhard Weber, and Embryo and the list goes on, way cool.

Not a big Jazz fan; although I do love seeing it played live.
Used to date a girl who was a huge jazz fan & went to a lot of clubs in the city.

I can get into some jazz fusion stuff but i'm not big on jazz, either.
What comes to mind is :

Brand X
colloseum 2
Bruford
Chick Corea
Al di Meola

Big music form the little guy: Michel Petrucciani - Michel Plays Petrucciani (1988)
