Hi Gang, we are headlining Pensacon.com, which is a really cool and huge comic con event, second only to Dragon Con in the Southeast. It's taking over the whole NW Gulf Coast, hopefully weather is great! Steampunk and all forms of cosplay, all the big classic guests from Star Wars to Dr. Who to Game of Thrones. It should be fun, hope to see some of my ProgPower friends, I seriously think this is gonna be epic even if Mindcage wasn't playing... Haha .. so you check it out! Pensacon.com!

For Immediate Release - Feb. 7, 2014 - GULF BREEZE, Fla. -- Mindcage will debut their live show at an official Pensacon party in Pensacola, FL, following the release of their Steampunk-themed concept album, “Our Own Devices,” out now on Kinematic Music. *Their performance will begin at 9:00 p.m. at World of Beer’s downtown Pensacola location, with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. Mindcage will top the festival bill with support from local bands Gotham City Troubadour, Colonel Gentleman & The Intangible Fancies, and Timberhawk.

Mixed and mastered by rock legend Michael Wagener (METALLICA, OZZY OSBOURNE, SKID ROW, DOKKEN, RAVEN, MEGADETH), "Our Own Devices" has been compared to a fantasy storybook set to music. In this album, Mindcage introduces the world to the character of Arabella Vash, a young woman who uses the power of her sometimes painful dreams to save a dystopian world. Combining cultural and literary elements of steampunk, dystopian society and futuristic technologies (http://www.bravewords.com/news/209884) with highly articulate progressive metal music, the album transports the listener to a broken world in need of a hero.

Mindcage Founder and Guitarist, Dietrick Hardwick, said he will leverage this exciting Pensacon gig as a debut live show for a subsequent tour,"The One Constant Tour", beginning a chapter that has the group presenting their conceptual *material from their new album “Our Own Devices” in an appropriate live context. Also, it affords the band not only to play to their hometown audience, but to enjoy presenting their show to the large cross-section of avid devotees of geek culture which embrace such rich and intellectually charged story-telling.

"Kick-starting our live performances of this dramatic work is very exciting because we get to tell a deeply layered story," Dietrick says. “Though initially we will let our fans call to life on the world stage some of the mysteries of the record, Pensacon’s attendees and cosplay aspect affords us the perfect opportunity to introduce some of the theatrical elements we hope to build on as we gather pace touring larger venues worldwide.”

Mindcage have also promised to perform a few metal classics as part of their extended set list.

“We expect Mindcage’s dramatically bound Steampunk-themed music to appeal to a lot of our attendees who enjoy heavy and epic music with progressive and theatrical aspects you would find in a great Victorian Sci-Fi flick.” Says Pensacon Founder, Mike Ensley. “This will also be the perfect dystopian type of show the Steampunk cosplayers and fans will go crazy for.”

As the Gulf Coast's premier Con event, Pensacon will be well attended by fans of Steampunk and other cosplay genres. Featuring three days of celebrities, panel discussions, concerts, gaming events, costume contests, awards and a vendor area, Pensacon will take place over the weekend of February 21-23 in historic downtown Pensacola, Florida. Pensacon is sponsoring Pensacola’s Gallery Night with Live Music events taking place at World of Beer on Palafox St. in the downtown area.
