Nine Inch Nails presents Ghosts I - IV, a brand new 36 track instrumental collection available right now. Almost two hours of new music composed and recorded over an intense ten week period last fall, Ghosts I - IV sprawls Nine Inch Nails across a variety of new terrain.

Trent Reznor explains, "I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point. This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams. I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts." :kickass:

Hahaha... too bad the site is totally swamped and the download keeps cutting off after like 50 KB or so... :p

Can't wait to hear it eventually, though!

From the sound of the tracks on the site-player this is a genius ploy to make a ton of cash.

Each of these songs can be made in 1-2 hours by an experienced programmer/engineer because they are all totally random. The absence of vocals or songstructure even makes it possible that this is all old background stuff from old records (Trent is known for having tons of producers send him songparts, loops, bits, atmos, etc. which he then "connects" to make songs, much like Puff Daddy).

The pseudo-artsy booklet looks like something chosen out of an average stock photo library in half a day.

The net income generated by the 2500 limited edition deluxe sets at 300US$ a piece will be around 100k US$ (after ALL costs are deducted) and then there are the less expensive packages ...

If the content was better, I would applaud this thing, but it just sounds like random crap from libraries or unused shit from recording sessions to me ...

The wannabe-artsy approach is what disturbs me the most ...

I personally am enjoying all 36 instrumental tracks for the 5th time over. I was lucky enough to get them the sec it came out.
Ploy or not the good thing is you can have all the songs for free if you want. That's if I'm understanding all this right.
