OctoMom

off topic but prop 13 keeps me in CA. at 1 1/2 % property tax on a 350K home I can't afford much more..this of course does not include the $4k a year I pay to home owners associations. Seems you can't find a decent house that's not in some sort of owners association.

I won't get into the tax situation at this time - too livid.

One of Octomom's parents' houses is going into foreclosure (they have not made a payment since May of last year). So now she is looking for a new house and supposedly the one she is looking into is quite large and even more expensive. The report I heard stated that she claimed she makes $400K/month. Oh, and there is some nursing organization offering to cover "all of the care" for the kids. They stated it would cost $135K/month to cover all care expenses and are asking for donations.

I swear, if she gets all this help I'll consider having my own litter if it'll pay that well. Mind you, I am not saying I want the children to get screwed here - they are totally innocent in all of this.

What a strange and curious society we have become...

I did hear that this 'nut' is now suing companies that came forward and offered help to MARRIED COUPLES who have had several children - diapers, cars, clothing, etc. - but haven't come forward to offer her the same...

She planned on using financial aid for school to help pay for her kids... She's a complete and total idiot..

I feel HORRIBLE for the kids... And this poor case for a human being said she kept having babies to fill a void in her life of not getting the love she thought she deservered when she was a child.. um, if 6 didn't fill it why would 8 more??

I have wondered if she's making herself look more like Jolie because she's obessed to the point that she's harboring a sick hope that if she does this (having a ton of kids), it will bring her closer to establishing a commonailty in both their lives and close contact...

Jolie has always struck me as a bit 'odd' but to hear her say Octomom is sick takes that word (sick) to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL..

I wouldn't be shocked nor feel bad for her if they took her kids away and put them in situations where they can have a stable home and a chance for turning out ok because it's not going to happen in her care (unfortunately)...

And this poor case for a human being said she kept having babies to fill a void in her life of not getting the love she thought she deservered when she was a child.. um, if 6 didn't fill it why would 8 more??

I seriously question this statement, specifically because she is allowing her children to be raised by the parents that supposedly didn't raise her with enough love. Umm, what?! o_O

Seems she could could help Grandma by paying for her house with that money Dr. Phil gave her. (okay I don't know she got any but she was on his show, I didn't watch just saw a trailer)

It's Gloria Allred that is offering her help, she also informed Social Services to check out the other kids in the home.

LOS ANGELES

Gloria Allred offers aid to octuplets' mother

Attorney Gloria Allred on Thursday offered octuplet mom Nadya Suleman a way to get round-the-clock nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy and a home for her super-sized Whittier family.

All Suleman has to do is call and accept the help from Allred and Angels in Waiting, a charity founded by Kaiser nurse Linda West Conforti. "We're not trying to rip these children away," Conforti said. "We're trying to give her a support system."

Suleman has not responded to the offer.

Volunteer nurses would help care for the babies in eight-hour shifts, Conforti said. In all, she said, it would probably take about 14 trained professionals to provide stability and care for the octuplets while also assisting Suleman with her other special needs children.

Allred said she filed a complaint on Feb. 12 with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services requesting an investigation into whether Suleman's 14 children might be endangered if left in her care and custody. Her complaint also asked that the children be temporarily removed from Suleman's care if that is warranted.

Although Suleman has reportedly earned money from interviews with U.S. and British tabloids, it is unclear how the single mother plans to support her family in the long term. The small Whittier home she is sharing with her mother is in pre-foreclosure. Suleman is unemployed, receiving about $490 a month in food stamps, with three of her children receiving federal Supplemental Security Income. Sources have said that Kaiser filed for Medi-Cal reimbursement for the octuplets.

The offer from Angels in Waiting would keep the family together without use of taxpayer funds, Allred said.

I seriously question this statement, specifically because she is allowing her children to be raised by the parents that supposedly didn't raise her with enough love. Umm, what?! o_O

It was during her Ann Curry interview - saw it on the Today show... it may not be word for word but that was the jist of it...

Of course this mom is also the mom that has a gag order against her from the Octomom as well because the mother spoke badly about her to a magazine... It's definitely a sad, sad case all round

Oh hey, I wasn't questioning that she said it at all (sorry for any confusion!). I was questioning the truth behind what she was saying. If I felt my Mom raised me without as much love as I needed, I wouldn't dare allow her to raise my kids, ya know? Add to that the fact it will be next to impossible to give each child ample individual attention. (I mean hell... class sizes are limited for a reason.) Sounds to me like just another statement/excuse made to convince herself that what she is doing is a good thing.

Again, sorry if that came across as directed at you.

Ah, no biggie at all!!! It makes for good discussion :D

Did you guys see what seemed pretty staged to me, the argument the O mom and her mom had on TV?? What a farse..

I did hear them report - again on the Today show - that because of their current housing situation, the hospital/ social services may not release the babies to O-mom because she has no means to house them and meet their basic needs.... Suddenly her 'mental state' is being called into question...

Too bad this couldn't've been done BEFORE she started the first IVF... these poor kids... :ill:

Is she going to wear a mask? Is there anything LESS appealing? (ok, well besides leper porn...)
Good God, just take the kids from her now and get it over with....

She's a piece of work, indeed..from the AP yesterday:

"LOS ANGELES — The founder of a nonprofit nurses' group says the California mother of octuplets born last month allowed an offer of free, 24-hour care for the infants and six older children to lapse.

Linda Conforti-West, founder of Angels in Waiting, said today that Nadya Suleman appeared to lose interest in the group's proposal when she was told last week that a reality show and a biweekly press conference on the babies' condition was out of the question due to their fragile immune systems.

Angels in Waiting's offer, which included a new home, expired Thursday at midnight.

Suleman's publicist could not be immediately reached for comment.

Angels in Waiting specializes in care of premature babies."

I am at a loss for words...absolutely flabbergasted at the utter lack of concern for anyone but herself. She clearly doesn't give a damn about these kids outside of what they might get for her, or she wouldn't have passed up FREE care. Christ, what does a person have to do to get their own reality show these days? Guess having eight kids is old news...sorry, crazy lady.

Those poor kids. :(
