Yeah, and with a new album that came out the same year as Katatonia, I am a bit surprised Peaceville didnt try to get these two on the road together. I know given the number of members, a MDB tour would not be cheap.

Interesting list of 2nd and 3rd tier cities. Looks like they are almost treating this as a second leg of their 2012 tour together.

On a side note, I have noticed a disturbing trend of some tours considering Joliet the Chicago market. Please, booking managers, stop using a map to make decisions...unless the intent is to throw downstaters a bone, most urban dwellers such as myself and millions of others Chicagoans will not make the 50 mile trek. Public transportation is how we move about the city.

Fair enough. (though I'll ignore the "stop using a map to make decisions" comment for your own sake)

However, if the usual metal clubs in actual Chicago aren't available, or aren't interested, or don't match the offer of a club in Joliet, then what do you expect us to do? Skip the Chicago area altogether?

I get what you're saying, but the fans need to be willing to sacrifice occasionally as well... otherwise, no right to complain.

I agree. Mojoes is a really long trek for city folks and also...there are lots of city folks who dont own cars so getting out there isnt an option.

Yeah, sorry, that was a bit of an unsolicited shot at the bookies like you, my friend. My point was that just because it appears to be close to Chicago, doesn't necessarily mean it is easy to get to Joliet, etc. I guess the market is still feeling a void with The Pearl Room going under a couple years ago.

Chicago does have plenty of options, however. The Bottom Lounge, Reggie's, The Metro Chicago, The Vic Theatre, Congress Theatre, Park West, House of Blues, Lincoln Hall (where I will be seeing my most anticipated concert of the year on February 5th: The All Mighty GRAVEYARD!!! :kickass:). I know I am missing a few others, but I guess I understand that if the choice is to skip the Chicago market all together or end up in Joliet, I would be on board. Week night dates would pretty much eliminate the pool of Chicagoan's though.

for smaller shows there are just as many...Ultra Lounge, The Hideout and a bunch of others.

Again though...there are lots of people from the burbs who wont come for city shows as well. But most people from the burbs do have cars so that is one thing they have over most city folks.

No hard feelings, bro. I have been hit with the same comment many times though. But it's hard to say no to something if we don't have anything else instead, ya know what I mean?

With that said, I've experienced both the good and the awful about MoJoes. No need to go into it, but I'm neither thrilled, nor disgusted yet. It was decent for the bands. My biggest problem is that they don't believe in advertising the shows.

Well in terms of this show, it actually makes sense for it to hit Joliet, as both bands the last number of times have been playing Chicago.

That is exactly it.
As someone already said, it looks like a 2nd tier market tour.
(IE - validating looking at this tour as the second leg of what they already did).

Sorry, but I disagree with this 100%

MoJoes has local openers who help promote the show, in having them sell tickets. (Granted I don't recall if that was the case for that ICarus Witch tour you did that came through there).

They have a full page ad in the Illinois Entertainer each month, have a very up to date website, and get all their shows listed on all the Chicago specific concert update sites (IE - Chicago Metal Factory, Rebel Radio, the Reader, etc.)

I never understood the extreme hatred people have for the venue.

@ Bob - You are flying to Germany for cripes sake. Don't complain about a 50 minute drive to Joliet.

The extreme hatred for the clubs is as follows....

1. terrible sound
2. no drinking on the main floor, you have to stay in the balcony so bands get screwed with no one on the floor for them.
3. they are very shady with certain promoters
4. put too much ice in their drinks!

on the plus side it is large venue with lots of space and parking is great.

driving to see 1 band for 2 hours is much different that flying to germany to see a 2 day fest like Keep It True then Helloween / Gamma Ray and maybe Avantasia.
