Play the ProgPower USA Ultimate Fantasy Roster Game....

You are the promoter. You are booking the ultimate ProgPower USA edition. All the risk and reward falls into your lap.
The rules:

1. Your budget is $60.
2. You must pick 12 bands from the list below (each with their cost noted).
3. List 6 bands on each night (Fri/Sat) in order of headliner to opener. No exceptions.
4. You cannot go over $60. However, you do not have to spend all $60. List any amount you saved beside your roster.
5. Only one entry per person. Your entry may be listed on our forum or on our Facebook page.
6. Deadline is January 31st.

I will choose the top 10 finalists myself based on what I feel is a realistic roster in terms of selling tickets in today's market conditions. Those 10 finalists will be announced here & on Facebook on February 1st. I will then hold a poll at that time and the public will pick the winner. In the event of a tie, the winner is determined by the amount left over on the budget.
Winner receives 2 Gold Badges for this year’s show.
Good luck!

This is awesome I am totally doing this this weekend. Is the amount of money per band relevant to their actual fees/costs of booking them proportionally? For example, would Sabaton really cost 4x as much as say, Wuthering Heights? Just my own curiosity.

Well, these are really the bands I'd love to see again, so I'd buy a ticket to see this line-up!

Friday
Devin Townsend Band $9.00

* There are endless possibilities with the whole Gamma Ray/Helloween/Iron Savior combination.

* Really do not like female-opera metal bands, but evidently one of said bands needs to be obligatory included - yes?

Ok, going for a good mix of styles, bands that are popular with the fest folks and the public at large while getting the most bang for my buck:

FRIDAY
1. Nightwish ($10)
2. Angra ($6)
3. Diablo Swing Orchestra ($4)
4. Spiral Architect ($4)
5. Jag Panzer ($2)
6. Into Eternity ($1)

SATURDAY
1. Blind Guardian ($10)
2. Forbidden ($4)
3. Circle II Circle ($4)
4. Angel Dust ($3)
5. Dreamscape ($3)
6. Pyramaze ($2)

Total: $53
Savings: $7

My logic:

Nightwish and Blind Guardian are the heavy hitters who don't tour the states so often that ProgPower would be 'just another show'. Angra never tours here, has a significant fan base (relatively speaking of course) and I thought was undervalued at $6. I thought Forbidden at $4 was a steal, solid fan base, brings a thrash element to the show. DSO was the last band I picked, I wanted a real oddball and they were well received the last time, haven't been back anywhere else that I know of and were reasonably priced. A 3 slot may be a tad high but the crowd needs a fun break after... Spiral Architect. May not have a huge fan base but I bet those who do like them would travel great distances to see them. Circle II Circle has the obvious Savatage connections, appeals both inside and outside the fest crowd and was a good value at $4. Angel Dust was about to blow up before they split up. They were great live and anyone who remembers ProgPower 2.0 would surely love to see them again. For $3? Hell yeah! Jag Panzer, been around forever, doesn't play out much and would draw a better crowd than your average #2 band. Only $2? Sign me up. Needed some more of a straight prog element so I went with Dreamscape. Ok value at $3, mostly because they were so popular with the fest folks. Wouldn't draw flies outside the core attendees though. Pyramaze just to get Urban on the ProgPower stage again. Perhaps having Barlow for an album raised their profile enough to draw better than your average opener. Lastly Into Eternity. Yes they were America's house band for a stretch there but its been a while and all that playing out had to create a fan base. For $1 I'll take a band plenty of folks have heard of (oh, and that Iced Earth connection too) and who'll melt faces to kick off the fest! Sounds like an amazing show to me. Plus I save $7 in a bad economy and if it sells out (sure it would!) I can throw that much more at Arjen next year for that once in a lifetime Ayreon show :D

Sonata Arctica $9.00
Pagan's Mind $7.00

Hey what can I say..............I love my friends. :D

Is it possible to add a certain percentage of the band's fee for an 'exclusive' set? Ex: add 25% to DTB's $9 to have them play a record in its entirety, or something along those lines. Or even so that the appearance is US-exclusive.

3. Freak Kitchen (5)
4. Elvenking (2)
5. Wuthering Heights (2)

Total Cost: $56 - Saved $4

Amaranthe 3
