Great show. Tate was vocally on top of his game. He sounded a little better than the mindcrime at the moore dvd/cd. They played for slightly over 2 hours. It was the 4 original guys plus tates future son in law and some guy on bg vocals and keyboards/guitar/percussion. We got an interesting but really weird set and I was sad not to hear “I dream in infrared”, “silent lucidity” ,”hand on heart” and “man down”. yes you read that right “silent lucidity” was not played. Happy that “the killing words” was played. Here is the setlist to the best of my memory:

1 neue regel
2 the whisper
3 the killing words
4 gonna get close to you
5 walk in the shadows
6 London

7 sliver (with huge soldier guy doing the drill parts)
8 unafraid
9 100 mile stare
10 at 30,000 feet
11 dead mans words (cool story from tate about 3 marines volunteering to going into enemy territory to save 1 marine they never met and only 1 came back out. Tate on soprano saxophone. The guy on bg vocals and keyboards was featured on the tune with co lead vocals)
12 if I were king
13 remember me
14 home again (duet with tates daughter. Very moving with the pictures on the screen behind the band)

15 best I can
16 the thin line (tate on saxophone)
17 one and only
18 della brown (tate had a glass of wine at the start of the tune)
19 another rainy night
20 jet city woman
21 anybody listening?
22 empire

Whoa, are they doing that much of Rage for Order every night? Or are they just switching it up here and there. I'd pay money to hear those songs. I saw them last on the Mindcrime I/II tour, but Rage is probably my overall favorite of theirs.

It's only weird if you haven't been following their recent tour set lists. They have been doing 2 alternating set lists on this 3 "Suite" tour. This is the exact same set I saw in NJ on 5/14, except the last song/encore was Take Hold of the Flame. The following night in NYC, they switched a few out and did ALL of those other songs you are looking for.

The last 2 times I've seen them, they haven't done Silent Lucidity (9/14/07, opening for Heaven and Hell). :headbang: I'm seeing them again in October (for the 18th time) so I'm actually hoping it's the "right" night to go (meaning I get the other set). :)

I think I've read that his daughter already married the guitar player, quite recently...

the setlists i've seen the last few weeks had totally different tunes in place of some of those. "man down" was on every setlist i've seen from this tour until now. "the killing words" seemed to not be played on the same nights as "gonna get close to you" but this time it was. "della brown", "one and only" and "another rainy night" have not been in the same setlist on this tour. i agree they were following the same 2 or 3 setlists but this show they seemed to add tracks in that weren't normally on that set

they are doing a rage set then american soldier and then empire. it appears it just depends on the bands mood. every tune from all 3 of those albums has been played on this tour to my knowledge. some nights they seem to focus more on 1 album and less on the others. we got 6 from rage and 8 from the other albums but i've seen sets with 7 or 8 from rage and 6 from the other albums

That's the same set I saw May 9th in Detroit. I think we got better empire and rage sets than the alternate "B" set lists, but I wasn't very pleased with the American Soldier songs.

Pretty cool story for Dead Man's Words eh?

I'm glad I saw this three times and made up for lost time, I last saw them on the Empire tour...
The set was great! I want to see a DVD of this but I haven't heard anything about these show being filmed...sadly.

I downloaded a pro-shot DVD of their show in New York (luckily it's the alternate set list). You can probably find the torrent for it somewhere on the net - May 15th 2009.

Nope. We never heard it and we saw them about 3-4 weeks into the tour. For the first 2-3 weeks they were messing around with different songs (I know they dropped Chemical Youth completely). Now they have 2 alternating sets. The one posted above (which I saw) and an alternate B set which my friend saw in Cleveland days before the Detroit Show.

Each set has roughly half of the same songs, half different ones. I know in both sets they have Walk in the Shadows, The Whisper, Silver, Home Again, If I Were King (at least what I've seen), Best I Can, Thin Line, and Empire.

What sucks is earlier into the tour they also encored with Take Hold.

Wow! That's great news. I'd love to see an official release of this tour.
I was overly impressed with the America Soldier stuff there are a couple great songs on there though.

That setlist sounds great! They really mix it up between the old, new and some lesser known tracks like "is anybody listening?". In my opinion that's what a concert should be and not just a "best-of" setlist.

Anybody listening was released as a single and video off Empire. It's one of their biggest hits.

Yeah, agreed on the set list thing - people want to hear the hits, fine, but bands should also toss in a couple of rarer tracks as well to please the longtime fans.

To the best of my knowledge, this is the NYC 5/15 set list.

Sorry, Matt. I didn't know they had resumed dates recently. As PM74 said, they were not playing Man Down every night (unless you were referring more to this recent leg).

Nice, I hope to catch Queensryche again in Europe soon. Last time I saw them, 2 years or so ago already they really were very good too !!!
