I don't know... they aren't really classifyable to be put in any category... so i put them somewhere just for the sake of space. For instance, opeth is under death metal, but would also fit (imo) under prog. Nevermore and iced earth i put under power because they are just metal and i see power metal as a blanket for all just metal... it works.

And yeah, tacoma sucks big time... where abouts are you?

I've lived all over the area. Kent, Auburn, Fife, Bonney Lake, SeaTac.......I lived in Bonney Lake the longest. Right now I'm in Moses Lake, going back to college here. It kind of sucks because all the friends I knew when I lived here 10-11 years ago have either moved, died or winded up in jail. Although, I have a shitload of family here. I also have GB FiberOptics so it isn't so bad. I'll only be here for a couple years though. As soon as I'm done with college, I'm fucking out of here.

I just don't see any power metal characteristics in Evergrey.

No power metal vocals, no fantasy lyrics, no power metal tempi, no power metal choruses.

Maybe I'm missing something...

Well, I think Death would qualify as both. To me, it's melodic Death Metal, not in the Gothenburg sence, though. Of course they're technical (Individual thought patterns and Human), but they were also one of the first Death Metal bands to use that classic hamonies. Death Metal can't get more melodic than on Individual, though it's technical as fuck at the same time. I just put them under melodic, 'cause otherwise I would have had to leave out one of the other great tech bands.
