Twisted Sister announces last tour...with Mike Portnoy!

Mike must smell a financial windfall!

Wonder what stupid things he's gonna say about this tour.

I wonder if he will be playing the drum lines with both hands and one foot behind his back?! Actually, Mike is a rock-n-roll junky and listens to everything from the Beatles to King Crimson to KISS to Metallica, so it actually makes some sense.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if he was kinda geeked out for playing with them. I'm sure he probably owned some Twisted Sister albums when he was younger.

I'm sure they were among his heroes growing up, seeing as how they're all from Long Island.

Who doesn't own some Twisted Sister albums? I mean Under The Blade? You Can't Stop Rock N Roll? c'mon. Say what you want about them now, but those early albums still kick ass.

Actually, I don't own any Twisted Sister, but I do own more than a few KISS albums. So, I complete understand and agree with the point you are making.

About as stupid as this reply?

Here's what MP had to say, stupid indeed! :fu:

MP to play with Twisted Sister for remaining 2015 shows

As a teenager growing up on Long Island in the late 70's/early 80's, Twister Sister were local legends to me (this was years before the rest of the world discovered them via MTV). Along with Kiss and The Ramones, they are the quintessential New York band...true Empire State Rock & Roll Royalty!

Almost 40 years and 10,000 gigs later, they are still one of the greatest live bands on earth and Dee Snider one of the greatest frontmen in the history of Rock.

When their fallen brother AJ Pero tragically passed away last month, I didn't hesitate a single moment when asked if I could help out with the remaining shows on their calendar. Not only because I love the band and will always be an S.M.F. at heart...but most importantly, because AJ was my friend and I want to honor his memory and the band's legacy.

It's a strange twist of fate as AJ had stepped in and helped my old band (Adrenaline Mob) when I left...so I'm glad that I can now return the favor and help out his band in their time of need!

It is my absolute honor to help out my fellow Long Island Rock & Roll Saviors, Twisted Fucking Sister!

TWISTED SISTER TO LAUNCH METAL MELTDOWN CONCERT DVD SERIES WITH LIVE AT THE HARD ROCK CASINO - LAS VEGAS; VIDEO TRAILER STREAMING

"...The first Metal Meltdown concert series event kicked off at The Joint at the world famous Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas on May 30th, 2015. Legendary, multi-Platinum selling rockers Twisted Sister performed an explosive 90-minute concert of their biggest hits spanning their 40-year career. The show was dedicated to the honour of Twisted Sister's iconic drummer, A.J. Pero, whose tragic, sudden death just two months prior to the filming of this event shocked the music world. The band announced that not only were all the remaining concerts being performed in 2015 dedicated to the memory of A.J. Pero, but that 2016 would mark the 40th and final year of the band’s legendary live performances. They recruited renowned drummer and friend of A.J. Pero, Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold) to take the reins, and his very first Twisted Sister appearance was captured by the Metal Meltdown camera crew.

Twisted Sister fans will now get to witness that special concert produced by the award-winning production company, Rock Fuel Media in association with Loud & Proud Records. Directed by Brian Lockwood (Bon Jovi, Metallica, Motley Crue), Metal Meltdown - Featuring Twisted Sister Live At The Hard Rock Casino - Las Vegas features that complete concert, as well as Rockshow, a bonus documentary that takes fans through the band's 40-year ride from local club outcasts to world domination with exclusive interviews, archive footage from the ‘80s, photo gallery. It was mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound. Set for release July 22nd, the retail package includes both BluRay and DVD formats as well as an audio CD. A video trailer can be found below..."

I was in Vegas the weekend they played that show, but didn't find out about it until about 2 months later :erk:

I keep hoping they will announced more US shows (just 2 so far) here during their farewell year.

In actuality, though TS is a pretty simple three chord metal band, Dee is one hell of a singer. He brings it live and has never really used his voice to it's potential on the TS stuff. He can bring the stuff on disc live in his sleep. Portnoy is certainly underutilized in this band, but Dee actually is too. If you don't believe me, listen to this......

I would love it if Glenn could swing for Twisted Sister's farewell show to be at next year's ProgPower. Twisted Sister is an incredible live band.
