    Band catagorization

Was just thinking about style catagorization of bands between now and say the 80's early 90's. For example; Metal Church were classified as thrash in the 80's and early 90's but if they were around now, they'd more likely be branded power metal. Anyone think of any other good examples...

    What's in a name?

Lately I've been thinking about prog and power metal bands whose name might be a little odd, hard to pronounce or just plain bad. I wonder if bands like this get held back in terms of success. Do you think this could be the case with some bands? What are some examples of bands who are great...

Looking for a serviced apartment next year.

Looks like I'll be in the States for my friends wedding next year and it's a week after progpower. I'm wondering if there's any nice serviced apartments or hotels with 2 bedrooms within walking distance to the venue that anyone can recommend because I'll probably make the trek to Atlanta. Any...

New Kiko Loureiro album and video.

I didn't even realise this was out. Kiko puts out the best solo cd's of the newer breed of players IMO. This track is great!

Blessed By a Broken Heart - bring the cheese.

This kinda reminds me what would happen if Dragonforce jammed with Reckless Love. The video is cheesy as hell, they look like a bunch of noodles, but damn if they can't play and there's more hooks than a tackle box. Can't help but like it. Guilty your honour...

    Very clever cover.

I think some of you guys will appreciate this. It's a cover of a song that was a massive hit here. The musicality here is fantastic. Enjoy. And the original for the comparison

Dragonsclaw. Great power metal from Sydney.

I had a listen to the tracks just now and they're sounding really rockin. I'm friends with the keyboard player so I'm kinda plugging these guys. I'd like to know what everyone thinks. Here's their facebook page with 3 songs to listen to. Album comes out later this year...

    Beyond Twilight news?

I'm posting this on behalf of a friend who loves Beyond Twilight. He hasn't been able to find out any information at all about the band lately, whether they're currently recording or anything. I thought some of the people in the know around here might know something. Cheers.

I need some help with some power metal sales figues.

I got into a debate with a fellow on facebook recently. I made a comment about Hammerfall pretty much single handedly bringing back power metal to the masses. He seemed to think they were helped along by a bunch of other bands but failed to name any examples. What I want to know is, is there...

    Alestorm/Voyager dates.

Ok so Alestorm and Voyager are doing tour dates down here. I'm thinking bout going just for Voyager alone, but can anyone tell me what Alestorm are like live? I know they do the whole pirate/folk metal thing that some folks are burnt out on, but are they good live?
