Today was actually a pretty good day until about 5pm. I was about to prep my grill for a long cook. I stepped out onto my deck and slipped on the top step that was covered in ice that had formed from the snow that fell off my roof. I thought I had either broken my leg or dislocated my knee. Luckily Jim was still working and he was able to assist me. A call to 911 brought the ambulance quickly. To make a long story short I didn't have a dislocation - I ruptured the tendons holding my knee cap in place (which is now floating around). My leg is immobilzed and I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to get around and be semi-productive. In the morning I'll be calling a a knee specialist who used to be the team doctor for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. My understanding is the surgery will require about 6 weeks of rehab and recuperation.

So if I'm brief or in a shit mood in the upcoming weeks my apologies in advance.

This sucks to no end.:puke:

Ken, Terrible news. My condolences and sympathies. Hoping for a successful surgery and a rapid recuperation. Best of luck with physical therapy from one who has had to recuperate from a major knee surgery. John

Sorry to hear that Ken. I've had four surgeries on my knees. Two on each..The last time I fractured the meniscus....It's a pain in the ass...My recommendation is just finish the rehab...I didn't finish one of my rehabs, and two yrs later I had hip problems...

Thanks everyone for the warm wishes. I just got a call from the hospital. The radiologist looked at the x-rays and said that I have a fractured patellar. I don't know if that is better or worse. I know it doesn't hurt any worse than before I got the call.

I'll be seeing the specialist tomorrow so I'll get a better handle on it.

Diagnosis is ruptured tendons - no fractured patella. Surgery scheduled for Friday the 13th (!) Done on an outpatient basis after which I'll be looking at 6-8 weeks of rehab.

DUDE? Those damm carpenter bees iced up the step so you cannot stop them this summer! My advice...get Jim in a little tight nurse outfit like a candy striper and have him multi task his balls off! GET WELL MY MAN! Lesson is: use the foreman grill in the winter man!
