The traditional instruments are a beautiful touch, but what's surprising is the entirely Western song structure and vocals. My interest is piqued indeed, J-Man. After a bit of research, I found a very reputable eBay seller with brand new copies of Fu Xi "On The Silent Way" and even some discs from the band I link below. He's sold 6 copies of the Fu Xi disc in the last few weeks! (word's getting around!) I just did a "buy it now" and my total was $20.99 including my $1 donation to an animal charity. NOT TOO BAD considering 99% of the music I import costs me a kidney. Check it out..

There's little in the Chinese scene that I like but it could be because the rest of the world got a good head-start on them. That being said, some of the most interesting genre cocktails are coming out of there!

Oh, and... Chinese Throat-Singing Folk Black Metal :Spin:

Of all the people on the forum, I knew you would be the one to really like this, I took your advice and ordered it also. They are so unique in my opinion, never thought i would like something like this but i really do.

Oh I know right?! It just smacks of everything I like. Doom metal, folk instruments, Asian language.. it's the perfect trifecta for automatic love in my book. I'm so happy you ordered it too! I can't believe that seller has it so readily available! Have you checked out some of the other stuff he has? And for the amazing prices o_O

Holy cow.

This is -awesome-.

Indeed! Thanks for sharing this, John!

That second link makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.

Buying. SO buying.

Agree with Kaoasaur. Great find on Fu Xi, J-Man!!! Also this:

Hell Savior: thrash featuring Nature, the man behind Tengger Cavalry. It's also available from burningchina on eBay. So I just purchased the Fu Xi, Tengger Cavalry, and Hell Savior albums all for just over 50 bucks. NOT A BAD DEAL!!!

Johan, the seller still has a few listed left on eBay. That link posted earlier in the thread might be broken. Just go to eBay and search for "Fu Xi". You'll be led to the CD seller that way.

The link above will still get you there, but here's the new listing. Now shows 7 copies available! \m/

The seller told me that if I liked Fu Xi, I should also check out DEEP MOUNTAINS, Chinese Atmospheric Black Metal... I'm not as sold on these guys as Fu Xi, but figured I'd pass it along. What do you think?

Even though Black Metal is not my cup of tea, so to speak, I really like DEEP MOUNTAINS

Ironically, eventhough I love Black Metal, I didn't really care for Deep Mountains too much. Maybe I just need to revisit them when I'm in a different mood.

Speaking of a different mood, The Last Successor! Chinese progressive metal. Sweeping melodies, clean vocals, some traditional instruments, and a glorious mix of Western and Eastern song structure! This song is more of a light rock ballad, but I think you all might enjoy this. Making a separate thread for this one, but figured this is a nice place to add it too. edit: jeez, you guys already knew about them??? and I thought I was the "Asian metal guru" around here ;)
