The attempts of his to hit high notes sound so ridiculous.

All the entries this year seem soooooo bad but I haven't heard the ones that were already in the finals.

I have to admit, the stilt-dancing on the live video was pretty cool.

Cool, I've never heard of this before. I see on their site that this was the 54th contest, too. And I type this as I'm watching the final Americal Idol episode...

I'm surprised. Nightwish actually took part in it back in 2000 with Sleepwalker. They finished second.
Lordi won it in 2006 which launched their career.
ABBA also launched their career through the competition.

The music overall isn't usually that great since the way the competition is set up usually means its rather generic to appeal to as many people as possible.

Anyway, this is the song that won. I hate this song but considering there was nothing that I felt deserved.... meh. The worst part is probably that it was the highest score ever.

Watching this, and seeing how generic/poppy the winner was, it's easy to see why Lordi was considered a national embarassment in Finland after their nomination -- the Finns thought they'd NEVER win it all.

Then they won.

--At which time they suddenly became heroes.
