I'm about to purchase a focusrite liquid saffire 56, however i'm concerned of its compatibility with an express card. My laptop (less than a 2 years old) doesn't have a firewire input, so I'll need to use the express card for the interface to be able to connect with my laptop, obviously. So my question comes down to this, will using the express card with the combination of the saffire 56 and my laptop have any performance issues?

I don't see why there would be any issues. Just make sure your express card is a good one with a TI chip. I've read somewhere that Focusrite also recommends VIA but i've always stuck with TI although i do have a PC that i use occasionally that has VIA and it works just fine with it.

I own a LS56 and plan on doing the exact same thing you are once i get my laptop in a few weeks. Gonna be getting this:
