Great openings (Katatonia)

Anyhoo..

I feel the need to discuss or just talk about either the coolest opening on a Katatonia track or the worst. I start with the worst, because that's the song that inspired me want to make this thread..heh.

Worst - Displaced

The start just wants me want to skip it. It's a good song, but the opening is just horrible for some reason.

Best - Leaders?

I'm not too sure about the best..but Leaders is a safe bet in my book.
Song openings are a strange thing really..that's why I would like to hear opinions about this. If there already is a thread about this, then I hate the search function in this forum. So much hate..I know..

I guess I'm just tired of the My dying bride whiny guitars they use there...it starts whiny too abrupt..heh..when the intro goes to quiet mode and starts for real, then it's all good.
It has to be said that I've been listening to MDB for over 10 years and it's only natural to be a bit tired of the whiny guitar sound they so often use. It's a good sound really..but not as a track starter. At least not for me.

I don't know about the MDB thing. I really don't like them so never listen to them.
But I think the abrupt beginning is one of the strengths of the song.
Also those guitar melodies are very catchy

Funny, I used to not listen to Displaced because I though it started out weird, but I freaking love everything about that one now, especially the quality synth throughout.

Also, Sweet Nurse has a nice little start. Evidence as well.
