ICED EARTH's first officially filmed headline show, Live In Ancient Kourion, will hit stores on April 15th in Europe (North America on April 16th). This incredibly powerful package will come to you in various configurations and, a first for Century Media Records, also on Blu-Ray disc. The Limited Edition Deluxe Book features the main show and a plethora of bonus content on DVD and a Blu-Ray disc, as well as the entire concert on a 2CD set (4 discs in total). You can also enjoy the audio version of the full concert in a 3LP gatefold vinyl package or as a 2CD set. A standard DVD and Digital Audio Download will also be available.

A clip for the track 'Dystopia' from the upcoming release can be seen below:

Early on in the World Tour the band decided that they wanted to capture this newfound energy and passion on film. The biggest question was deciding where to film. There were so many great shows and audiences around the world that it was very challenging to decide which city to choose for this special event. When the offer came in to film at the ancient Kourion Theater in Limassol, Cyprus, they were immediately attracted to that idea. The history and culture there, as well as the Cypriot audience, which the band experienced in December 2011, solidified the decision to film the DVD in Cyprus. Filming and recording a 2 1?2 hour show in an amphitheater that is 6000 years old and is not set-up for a rock concert, paired with 40-degree Celsius heat, were just some of the obstacles to overcome. But the finished product makes up for any of the challenges that the band and crew faced on that special night.

Is it just me, or does the "Dystopia" video sound terribly thin compared to the trailer? I'm stoked for the DVD and I'm sure it will sound good, but you would think they would want the first full song released from it to sound as good as possible.

Cool. Great place for a live recording. Check out their drummer - he is wear a Dream Theater t-shirt in the trailer video.

Another invest ment to be made.

Picked it up yesterday and watched most of it...the production and editing are both top-notch, and it's clear that this is what Jon has been trying to capture on film since "Alive in Athens." As per usual, Troy could be a bit louder in the mix, and there are some vocal melodies that I didn't really like Stu's take on, but they're minor quibbles in the context of a fantastic concert. There's an energy about the band that has been sorely lacking at times over the past ten years and Jon looks even more revitalized on this DVD than he did on the SymX/IE tour last year. I can only hope that this new-found energy shows through on their next album.

Edit: Also, $12 for a DVD/2CD package is pretty insane. I would've liked to get the Blu-Ray package, but considering it's only shot in 720p and I couldn't find it anywhere for less than $45, it was hard to beat the $12 digipak.
