With the rise of the digital age of music, more and more music fans utilize outlets such as iTunes, Amazon, and Rhapsody; of course, there are still a lot of music fans that acquire their favorite music through other means of online sharing (torrents, mass media sharing, etc.) much to the dismay of some of the lesser known and hard-working artists in the industry trying to pave their way to the big leagues.
Taking this into consideration an upstart next generation metal only label, Masters of Metal Productions (M.O.M.P.), is well on their way to providing some quality metal music to the masses, and theyre channeling their resources by presenting fans with the option to download their artists releases, digitally, for free with a name your price option for those that wish to support their roster for the hard work. M.O.M.P. is offering services like sound engineering, promotions, and networking to bands that yield the same vision as the label. Not to mention with enough donations from generous supporters they even plan to print limited run physical releases and other merchandise of their roster for sale to purely fund the operations and continued growth of their bands and community always keeping the fans and the hard working metal bands at the forefront of their business essentially being a not-for-profit organization.
Who would take on such a venture you ask? Owners Bryan Edwards (Vermiform, Ex-Seven Kingdoms), Tony C. (Judicator, Project: Roenwolfe), and Andrew Bennett have built a team from other like minded musicians and music fans such as Camden Cruz (Seven Kingdoms), Patrick Hoyt Parris (Ex-Theocracy, Project: Roenwolfe), and John Yelland (Disforia, Judicator) to name a few, in order to hit the ground running with a current roster of six projects already offering a wide spectrum of various Metal sub-genres.
Just launching their brand new website (http://www.mastersofmetal.org/) on the first day of 2013 to accompany the long running Masters of Metal Community (http://www.mastersofmetal.us/) this label means business, and with enough support, they may have a great shot at being one of the next big things in Metal. Besides, music is always better when its free right?
