New Fear Factory album

The new FF album has made me go back and look at their earlier albums. Very good, you wouldn't know the drums have been programmed if they didn't say anything about it.

Now it has had a few weeks to settle in, I reckon it would slot in after Obsolete stylistically and story wise.

Programmed drums, as in a drum machine?

Yeah it's all done with a drum machine. Not that it sounds any different to any of their previous albums in that regard.

Why did they bother doing that though?

I suppose to not bother paying another new drummer in the studio? It has turned out the same as the drums on any other record really, although Mechanize seemed to have a few 'fluid' moments drumming wise. Guess it says something for both triggered drums and modern technology that they have reached a point like this in sound, Messuggah did it a few albums ago just to prove it could be done.
