I am very sad. Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer has died, probably by his own hand.

ELP had a **huge** influence on me when I was very young and helped shape my budding love of music. I got their triple album "Welcome Back My Friends...." when I was in fourth or fifth grade and just played it *endlessly*. I used to put it on my crappy record player with its attached speakers, turn off the lights, and just listen to it in the dark so I could focus only on the music. I was absolutely mesmerized by the long instrumental passages and Carl Palmer's jaw-dropping drumming(not to take anything away from Emerson, a virtuoso himself). I think this is what laid the seeds for my love of progressive rock and metal, and my longtime obsession with Rush, whose music had a lot of those same qualities. I still listen to "Welcome Back...." regularly, and greedily snatched up Japanese import SHM copies of a few ELP titles in the last year.

David Bowie, Glen Frey, Lemmy, now Keith Emerson. This one really hurts.
