I did not see a thread dedicated to this, so I figured I would start one.

The album came out yesterday (can't wait for my physical cd and shirt) and I have listened to it a couple of times. I can't say that I have quite wrapped my head around it all after two listens. I don't say this as a negative, it is just there is a lot going on here both musically and conceptually. But even after two listens I an tell this album is something really special.

The musicianship on past releases has been great, but for some reason it stands out even more on this release. Many times in the couple times I have listened to it, the guitar and drum parts really stand out and capture your attention. I loved Kingdom of Ruin, so there is always trepidation when a band releases an album after something you love. But I can tell this is a very worthy follow up and I think a great place to jump on if you have not gotten into them yet.

I will follow up in a week or so after I have had time to really digest it all. I really want to sit down with the lyrics and some headphones on this one.

I'm with you on it.....I'm also trying to wrap my head around it only after a couple listens. Kingdom is definitely are hard one to follow up on..I'm hoping this new one sinks in just as well.

Picked up my copy at their CD release party here in OKC last Friday after having heard some of the material live. I can say I get you guys saying it has to sink in. I like it, but it's a slow burn, if you will, as opposed to the instant hot flash of love that came with Kingdom of Ruin. Good stuff, and well worth the time to absorb!

I hope people don't mistake my saying it takes some time as a criticism. As I have been listening to it this week, I absolutely love it. It is easily going to make it into my top 10 this year I can already tell. I liked it right away, which makes exploring the layers even more fun as time goes on. This is different than say the new Ayreon, which left me scratching my head as I tried to get into it. The guitar work in Infestation is really amazing.

Thank you OblivionOcean for starting the thread. :) I was planning to make one that had all the information in one place but this is a great start :)

"Between the Madness, available everywhere November 12th, is Vangough's third studio album and follow-up to the critically acclaimed Kingdom of Ruin released in 2011. Spread across twelve emotionally charged songs and topping out over 70 minutes of harsh textures and exotic flavors, fans will no doubt consider this a defining watershed moment in the band's career."
