The year is almost over, and I always mean to compile my list of favorites of the year, but usually by the time I remember it's like halfway through the next year already LOL So I'm getting a jumpstart on it and listing some cds that I think were the tops for me in '08. Curious to know what you guys thought were the best of the best this year, too.

Kinda financially embarassed this year, you know what I mean? Got a few-1) The Maniacal Vale-Esoteric.2) Obzen-Meshuggah.3) Formation of Damnation-Testament. I picked up the re-master of Sculptured Ivy and Stone Flowers-Novembers Doom if that counts for this year.5) The White EP-Agalloch. 6) In Rainbows-Radiohead. And on October 20, I'll be getting Alloy-Skepticism, Journeys to Unknown Lands-Pantheist and Vertabrae-Enslaved.

didn't hear the Moonspell and Septic Flesh yet, i'll try and check those out.

liked the Nachtmystium, but it hasn't quite stayed in rotation.
the new Enslaved is growing on me a lot; finally listened to Ruun this year and it's fantastic. they're totally bridging that King Crimson/prog style with a touch of black metal- really good stuff.

The bloodbath Lp really let me down in terms of production, it sounds way too weak and flawed, compositions are great but the productions sucks my energy life, Unblessing sounded sooooo much better

Biggest dissapointment - Opeth's Watershed...ugh

Im starting to dislike your "Ugh"s towards opeth griev0r, your mom never slapped you in the face when you said Ugh to her food? respect!

I think I only bought one cd this year and that cd was released last year I believe (Agua de Annique). I need to buy the new Sigur Ros yet and that may be it.

A lot of the releases I have gotten this year have only been so-so.

The major surprises for me were the Metallica and Gates of Slumber.

I'm a fucking huge Opeth fan man.. All I'm saying is for me the new album was a huge let down. A lot of hardcore Opeth fans just didn't like the new album, it's very different...but not in a way that appeals to me I guess.

The Mars Volta - Bedlam in Goliath

Of couuurseee!! i was not aware that album was 2008 for some reason i thought it was 2007. This is the best release of 2008 to me, no doubt! next to watershed and Domkirke

I'm a fucking huge Opeth fan man.. All I'm saying is for me the new album was a huge let down. A lot of hardcore Opeth fans just didn't like the new album, it's very different...but not in a way that appeals to me I guess.

I programmed myself years ago so that whatever opeth does I'll love it, hell they can turn Emo and I'll still be an Opeth socksucker (for the ladies). Watershed is really good in my opinion, the opening track is EPIC beautiful even if its really short, and the rest of the songs are really good, you should try to let it grow on you
