Hey, can I have my angle changed from Raoul Duke to Doomguy? Cheers.

    Belphegor - Blood Magick Necromance

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=148515 Thoughts on this? I can't wait to hear it personally; hopefully it'll continue on the same vibe as Walpurgis Rites.

    Les Légions Noires

I for one have been especially interested in them, so what's say we create some discussion about them? I personally listen to the Moëvöt and Aäkon Këëtrëh demos a fair bit (I don't own physical copies obviously). Good music to study to. Mütiilation and Bèlkètre get heavy rotation on my player...

    South American Brutal Death

Amputated Genitals is the only one that comes to mind. Who else is worth checking out?

    Relatively Obscure Opera

I've grown to be quite the fan of opera music and I'm looking to dig a little deeper into it. I say 'relatively obscure' because I'm not looking for Pavrotti, Andrea Bocelli etc.. I'm looking for the more traditional artists here. (IB4 ozzman tells me to go to the non-metal forum)

    Melodic Death/Doom Metal

I'm already digging The Morningside and Saturnus. Who else plays this brilliant music?

    Black Sabbath Sound-a-Likes.

I'm already familiar with Witchfinder General. Who else should I acquaint myself with?

    Sunn O)))

I'm going to come out and say that I've never heard any of Sunn O)))'s material, and I'm intrigued to. What album should I start with?

    Industrial Death Metal

The only artist that rings a bell is The Amenta. Who else is worth checking out?

    The Liquor Thread

As evidenced by the Beer thread, there are a lot of users here who enjoy a stiff drink or two. This thread is for wine, liqueur or spirits discussion and recommendation. I'll start by listing some of my favourite spirits.

    Raw, fast, ruthless black metal.

What I'm specifically looking for is black metal that consists of ferocious instrumentation, with vocals screaming with pure hatred, containing little or no ambience. In other words, the black metal equivalent to Brutal Death Metal.

    Deathcore

Okay, I know that Deathcore gets a lot of hate on this forum, but I believe it can be done properly. So, who are some artists that can pull this off? Preferably not emotional scene bands like Bring Me the Horizon.

    Blackened Thrash

The only artists that ring a bell are Deströyer 666 and Absu's recent material. Who else is worth a listen?
  14. Doomguy

    Symphonic Black Metal

The only artists I've really explored in this genre are Emperor, Limbonic Art, Dimmu Borgir and Gloomy Grim. Who else is worth checking out?

    The Extended Play's (EP's) Thread

This thread is designed so we can discuss different EP's and perhaps even list some of our favourites. I searched and couldn't find evidence of this thread before; if this is in contradiction with any other threads, I don't mind if you lock it. I'll start by listing a few classics...

    Mütiilation is no more.

http://www.myspace.com/meyhnach666 Reading through the recent posts, it seems that Mütiilation has unfortunately split-up. Very sad indeed. http://www.metal-archives.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=59623

    Avant-Garde

This is a genre I really need to explore further. The only artists I've really looked into are Diablo Swing Orchestra and Acid Bath.
  18. Doomguy

    Depressive Rock/Metal

In the vein of Katatonia, please.
  19. Doomguy

    Raw, sinister, undergound dark ambient.

I'm talking about dark ambient music that is hard to come by, and is excessively gloomy and evil. Hybrids with black metal are acceptable too. Something in the vein of Aakon Keetreh or Dark Pestilence, preferably.

    The Grind Thread (Revival)

Old thread died, and I believe we need some more discussion of the wonderful world of grind. I just picked this up and I love it. So insanely technical and just plain putrid and sick.
