Les Paul, the man who gave us one of the most iconic electric guitars in music history, has passed away at the age of 94. Since 1952, Gibson Guitars has produced the instrument that bore his namesake and was used by many of the biggest names in music from Jimmy Page to Slash to the late, great Michelle Meldrum.

R.I.P. Les Paul. Thanks for giving us a masterpiece of a guitar.

Well said, Jeremy. My favorite guitar player of all time is Ace Frehley, and he always uses a classic Gibson Les Paul. What would Rock and Roll sound like if it weren't for Les Paul, and his great creation?

I had forgotten to mention that not only did Les Paul create his iconic guitar, he also made numerous innovations to sound recording that is now widely used by everyone in the music industry - overdubbing, delay effects and multitrack recording. What a pioneer.
