Arcturus cancel ProgPower USA; Replacement Announced

How do you figure? Are you friends with the band or something? I find that statement weird considering you also said "I've just been starting to get into the band..."

Like I said, it's just a feeling. Their quotes at the time of the announcement of playing and after just gave me the feeling. Plus, the lack of much information about the band since the announcement I found a bit odd.

Like I said dude, just a feeling. That's it. I didn't state it as fact, so no need to over-analyze it any more than that.

I'm no fan of Emperor, but the clips Glenn posted sound pretty awesome. I couldn't get into Arcturus so this is definitely an upgrade for me.

I was planning on watching them but overall not one of my bigger reasons for going. Just means i need to invest time checking out some new music to me.

Starting album recommendation please!

Having checked out the clips, I can't say it's for me, but Arcturus wasn't really big on my list either. Doesn't matter, what's good for the fest is good for the fest. I have my GB, and wouldn't give it up if Justin Bieber replaced Sanctuary. There is still a ton of music to love at the festival.

I'm disappointed at the loss of Arcturus, from both a musical and "historic" perspective, but Ihsahn is a perfect replacement. I'd already been expecting him to appear in the roster announcement waybackwhen, so this is all kinds of awesome. Kudos to Glenn for having contingency plans already in place. :worship: :kickass:

For those asking, I'd suggest picking up the After CD and then working your way backward, but all 3 discs fit nicely in the realm of progressive (as opposed to Progressive) metal. :headbang:

And yeah, that announcement from Arcturus is......very Arcturus-ish. :erk:

Wow - total bummer on Arcturus backing out, was really looking forward to seeing them.

Have said that........

HOLY CRAP ON THE AMAZING UPGRADE!!!!! I couldn't be more excited about seeing Ihsahn!! Awesome!

Now is the Sanctuary thing still going to happen? A lot of people I talk to seem to have their doubts that it will go off as planned, and now with whatever happened to Never... I know the two are not related but...
Sanctuary should be fine, Warrel just tweeted "Jeff and Van cancelled the tour for personal and family issues" (source: http://twitter.com/warrel_dane ).
Also, congrats to Glenn on the awesome save. The festival lineup remains strong!

I do have to say, although I am not a fan of Ihsahn (or Emperor), I think it's really cool that Glenn not only got a similar replacement, but arguably one that is more relevant, has more buzz, etc. I hope MetalSucks will run something on this!

Like Brent said, they are all really great so it's hard to pick a starting point. But if I had to I'd say start with his latest 'After' and work your way back.
