    Setlist thread 2015

I much prefer this current Anathema set list. I saw them in 2006 when songs like Sleepless and A Dying Wish were on the set list. The difference between styles is so huge that the show does not flow really well with those old songs. They sound silly and out of place. I only miss songs from A...

New project with Arjen Lucassen and Anneke van Giersbergen

Of course that 2 albums have similarities, I am not saying that they are in different genres. But I think it´s an exaggeration to say they are THAT similar. It´s clear that the album that definitively moved The Gathering away from that sound was How To Measure a Planet?, but Nighttime Birds was...

New project with Arjen Lucassen and Anneke van Giersbergen

Mandylion and Nighttime Birds are far from being the same record. I get what Firehead is saying. 5 out of 8 songs on Mandylion are heavy and guitar oriented, it is clearly a metal album. Nighttime Birds has only one song that is clearly a heavy metal song: On Most Surfaces. Third Chance...

What drew you to ProgPowerUSA the 1st time?

The Prog Power II line up. I was in high school back then and had no money. My parents gave me 200 bucks and I made it happen with that. Me and 4 friends drove from the Fort Lauderdale area and shared one room at the super 8 (yes, the 5 of us in one Super 8 room haha). The 200 bucks was...

    Pain of Salvation fans

You should listen to Road Salt 2! It's much, much better than Road Salt 1. It's actually one of my favorite PoS albums (while Road Salt I is my least favorite of them all).

HOW MANY PROG POWERS HAVE YOU BEEN TO

6 I haven't been to Prog Power in a while, I really want to come back soon.

    Anathema: I'm thrilled beyond words...

I am with you on this. I like their older stuff, but the new material is the best they've ever done. I like each period better than the previous one. It's the only band I know that has continually progressed since the beginning of their career. Distant Satellites + Weather + We're Here...

What's the best live set you've seen all year?

TROK is SO good live. I love the drummer, he's so into it! It's fun to see him play. I had the chance to see them support Pain of Salvation in Brazil last year. That was a fun show.

    Weirdest PP t-shirt reaction?

On multiple occasions people thought my The Gathering t-shirts were about the card game "Magic".

Hey, GHOST fans/haters, check this out...

They were given the wrong slot, it didn't help. They played to a mainstream audience, not many people knew them. They went on right before the headliners (Metallica and Alice in Chains)... But they got some decent exposure as well. They made the cover of Rio's biggest newspaper the day after...

Who's everyone looking forward to seeing for PPXV?

Jon Oliva and Pain of Salvation.
