    Meshuggah - obZen

I agree with Neurotica on the order there. Catch 33, Contradictions Collapse, and I would all come after those.

    Moving sale

I'm moving and need to clear all these out, so make me an offer if you're interested in any of them. I included some old video games, too; they're all PC games. All of the items were in good shape last I used them. jimbobhickville [-at-] gmail.com Cassette / Anthrax / Among the Living...

Dumbest excuse/reason to buy an album.

Have they gone out of print again? I picked them up a few years ago when they got re-released. They aren't for sale, sorry. Great band.

Dumbest excuse/reason to buy an album.

I don't like glam rock, therefore I never got into Queensryche. I do own Änglagård, but the Å and Ö are probably non-existant in my collection. Besides, if we include them, there's also arabic, cyrillic, chinese, japanese, etc, etc to consider. I kept it to the English alphabet.

The best albums of 2008 thread

Virgin Black - Requiem Fortissimo The heavy, death-doom album of the trilogy. Another good Virgin Black disc, although I think this is kind of like when Opeth did Deliverance and Damnation. The 2 disparate styles work well in tandem, but having them fully separated doesn't work quite as well...

Dumbest excuse/reason to buy an album.

I'm not missing any letters in my collection, thank goodness. Xentrix for the win!!! Q was my longest holdout, until I discovered The Quiet Room and Quo Vadis.

The best albums of 2008 thread

The Cancer Conspiracy - Omega So, almost 5 years after they split up, they release a new disc. Apparently they recorded it a while back, but it never got released because the label went bankrupt. Long story short, it's great, but not as almightily amazing as The Audio Medium was. A good...

Well I guess Nevermore needs a new guitarist

Whooosh. That's the sound of the joke going over your head. I was just poking fun at the fact that their best album was also the one where they let someone else contribute. They're still an awesome band, but they're kind of stuck in the Jeff writes the music, Warrel writes the lyrics mode and...

Giving the forum a facelift...including name change

I spent like 5 minutes looking through the forum list for royal carnage until I noticed RC. Smooth move, ex-lax :D

Well I guess Nevermore needs a new guitarist

I can't imagine Nevermore allowing Ron to contribute to the songwriting. There's a reason the last 5 guitarists they've had have only been touring guitarists. When they let the 2nd dude contribute, like on Dreaming Neon Black, they get their best work. They don't want that to happen again...

It was in my top 10 in 2006. Fantastic disc.

The best albums of 2008 thread

So far, this is what I like (in alphabetical order): Ayreon - 01011001 Not as good as The Human Equation, and it took a couple spins to sink in, but I like it now. It's not top 10 material, but it's a buy. Biomechanical - Cannibalised Once I got past the muddy production, I learned to love...

UneXpect - In A Flesh Aquarium

It was #3 on my 2006 list. I like when you guys begin to realize you should listen to me more :D Now go check out Stolen Babies.

    Recommend some classy Prog acts

Nevermore occupies 2 spots in my all-time top 10 list, so I think you can safely assume we'll agree on very little in music.

    Have we discussed Novembre here?

Yeah, I don't know exactly why, but I've always felt Novembrine Waltz was a lot weaker than any of their other discs. It's probably too mellow or something, or maybe I just need to listen to it again.

What did I miss in prog metal this year?

The traditional prog metal albums I liked this year were: Thought Chamber - Angular Perceptions Newbreed - Child of the Sun Riverside - Rapid Eye Movement The Gourishankar - 2nd Hands I may be forgetting some, but I don't think so.

Katagory V - Hymns Of Dissension

Katagory V are hardly prog metal, although they do have some proggy moments. I know the guys in the band; seen 'em live a few times. Their 2nd disc is still my favorite from them.

    Maudlin of the Well

In my recent cleaning out of my mp3s, I discovered that I actually dig the first MotW disc, too. I liked Kayo Dot's debut, but the follow-up left me a bit cold.

what were the best movies of 2007? and most anticipated for '08?

Waitress Zodiac 300 I can't think of anything else from this year I really loved (including Hot Fuzz, sorry JK, but it was a boring movie with a few funny parts, Shaun of the Dead was better). I have yet to see No Country For Old Men and some others that might be contenders.
